It worked fine the 3rd time though.
Re: 8.1.5 available for download

Re: 8.1.5 available for download
i've gone from 8.1.3 to 8.1.4 and now to 8.1.5 with the last two updates
choosing the "only program" option. What happens when i deinstall 8.1.3 and 8.1.4 ?
do i loose content, importand mfl stuff? Does anyone know?

Re: 8.1.5 available for download
oh my, is there any update where tons of people are not totally confused?
just trash the applications, the content is in the library and your m4l stuff as well unless you put it somewhere else, but that doesn't matter because it is still not stored in the apps, the only thing you might need to be careful with is that you might have a skin or midi remote script that you forgot to store separate, that will be deleted if you trash 1.3 or 1.4
i made a folder with my ableton "add ons" that contain the custom scripts i use and skins, etc. and i always place copies of them into the apps, that way i can't accidentally throw them away.
that counts for OSX, i don't know if the uninstall process under windows removes those parts as well or not.
very annoying by the way, it would be great to have a location outside the apps like prefs that copy automatically or get scanned automatically
with every new version.

No, you won't lose content when you uninstall previous versions. Your Library and MfL material should all be in a different location than the app itself.m:o wrote:i've gone from 8.1.3 to 8.1.4 and now to 8.1.5 with the last two updates

And in any case, when uninstalling, it's generally the case that only things that were installed by the installer are removed. Things you put there yourself aren't touched, (but they usually aren't moved to the new installation either, so you have to do this by hand.)
This is definitely something we need to improve in the future. Updating Live is far more complicated than it needs to be.

@ Subfunk & Dennis
thanks for clarifying. Until the new update procedure (with/without content)
i usually downloaded the full Suite and uninstalled the previous versions.
the new update way was a bit confusing me as i wanted to deinstall older versions
of Live today.
seems like an improvement would be nice, but for now i'm str8ght with this
cheers!

Re: 8.1.5 available for download
It crashed 4 times and I haven't even downloaded or installed it yet.
Re: 8.1.5 available for download
8.1.4 no crashes. 8.1.5 crashed last night (bug pack sent to ableton) when doing "Shift +Tab" to get the focus back to the midi clip in the lowest pane of session view. Running Z3TA, Operator, Drum Rack and PSP Classic Eq. At the time I had configured the cutoff of Z3ta's filters to the ableton sliders, gone to eq with PSP eq then crash.
NB. In an instrument rack containing 2 x operator, 1 x analog selecting the chains was very sluggish. I have never seen this before. My CPU was hitting 55%.
Other wise running very stable.Thank you for a delicious programm. I have never written so much music and I have picked up so many tips I have missed on the forum making workflow a breeze.

Seems like the cpu spike when connecting signals to live_remote~ is gone in 8.1.4. Dont need snapshot~ anymore. That is good news!

Someone else had this problem? Cool, wasn't just me then =)flowdesigner wrote:Seems like the cpu spike when connecting signals to live_remote~ is gone in 8.1.4. Dont need snapshot~ anymore. That is good news!

Re: 8.1.5 available for download
I've got a huge bug report. It's like, vomit inducing.
Completely warped my MacBook display into a black hole and suctioned out my right eye.
I sent a question to Tech, will the support ticket help me retrieve my eyeball?
...Just wanted to say thanks Abes!

Re: 8.1.5 available for download
It crashes repeatedly just after trying to access my mac keychain on the first run. Fail. Dunno if it's some kinda corrupt thing to do with the OS, Ableton, or if it's a Hackintosh thing (but I never had this problem before on any versions).
Hopefully a new MBP in the near future will sort the problem.

Re: 8.1.5 available for download
Yep, minus when I get my grubby little mitts on my woman's virus/JP/fantom, which then goes via a USB midisport. But that's once in a blue moon. The 2nd DI is currently out the rack as I haven't sorted out the tunes/band yet and there's less plugging in if I put the SBS in the rack for now. But basically I can patch change my amp, have ableton change it, or trigger scenes with the FCB. Only thing I can't do is record knob movements off the SBS (unless I use the midisport, but that doesn't fit in my little rack, and portability's my biggest issue!)timothyallan wrote:is that a picture of how you plug your gear in as your signature?? ^^
