indeed. the premise is: live == live. live suite == live + the whole suite.

i mean, it's very hard to understand that.. one does not have to agree with it, but that's the deals you get offered.
so instead of anything, upgrade to suite if you want the whole thing, and get freebies as suite grows (means new effects, new instruments).
just as you got freebies as live, the app, grows: free bridge support.

I did read it, and I don't understand, there are a lot of "if's" in Polyslax's post.
Ok, let me try to un-confuse you...
1. Amp is being handed out as a gift for all the trouble users have had with Live 8.
2. Live 8 Standard users have had just as much trouble with the application as those using Suite.
3. Live 8 Standard users should not be excluded from Ableton's gesture of generosity.
Clear enough?
But Amp is not being given away for free. It is simply an addition to the suite that is not coinciding with a whole number update. If you own the suite, you own Amp.

I'm using GR4 so I don't really care about amp. but don't you think it takes a lot of effort to write a DAW like live? these people at ableton do a great job (every single piece of software has bugs). are you paid for your work? yes? so do the ableton people. live is not open source (thank god!).
davepermen wrote:ok, now lets fix that for you:
1. amp was built as a collaborative work with ANOTHER COMPANY, unrelated of anything ableton-only.
2. live standard users don't get devices for free, they never got those.
3. suite users do get all devices for free. they always get those.
so, it's crystal clear, and, interestingly, it's COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO ANY ISSUES ONE HAD WITH LIVE. it's an offside project.
this.

@ garyboozy
but IMO an amp plug MUST be for all , like others competitors on the market do !!!
this kind of plug and even OTHERS are now INCLUDED for free and for all users in daws like logic or cubase so what is wrong here ?

i dont understand ...
and if its just because ableton suite owners have spend more money its not an argument because some of us like me have spend same or more money with my upgrades from live 4 to live 8 .

it's a NON-ABLETON PRODUCT. you don't get ANY non-ableton effect or instrument for free in ableton live. those instruments and effects are ALWAYS addons. except in suite, where all are in.
really, how hard is it?

You guys are killing me!
Maybe I'm too cynical, but if you don't think Amp was a gift from the Abes for all the L8 crap that went down, and all the whining for some sort of freebie to compensate for that crap, then I don't know what to say.
Anyhow, I've been drawn into something that doesn't affect me in the least. Like I said, I'm using Live 7. So, carry on.

no. amp is NOT MADE BY ABLETON.
the gift you get are the fact that they stopped doing anything else THEMSELVES, stopped to create their own next product (which means sales losses, massive ones), and instead tried to fix every bug out there, and even listen to all the crap posted on this forum, trying to filter out the informations they need to help.
that is a HUGE, MASSIVE gift. you might not get that, i do. i know enough software development, and business, to know how much work, and how hard it is.
amp is a gift of the external company, that created a nice little live device for all of us. free for suite users, and free without modification in racks for live users.
so yes, you're to cynical, too less focused on actually understanding how much work ableton has right now on "fixing everything", and else not much understanding in how businesses work, etc. right now, that is. else i don't know you, so i can't judge you.
so you're still on live 7. how cute..

"Amp is free for Suite users." dumbass.
It's to their advantage to spin it that way of course... fucktard (since we're namecalling).

it's like any external created device: free for suite, free new racks for live. AS IT ALWAYS WAS.
