my PC is much more powerful than any G4 setup.

didn't start the Mac vs. PC debate, then your perception on how words (spoken or typed) affect the majority of people on this rock is a wee bit skewed.

Pints of Merlot are a good compromise. and you will most certainly get drunk faster than anyone else at the table.

i jumped into a pc mac war not too long a go giving it " macs are kaks "

BUT!! if these rumours are true , i will deffo buy one so i can take advantage of the mac only software ..

so do this come with just the actual tower? thats OS aswell? .. keyboard? mouse?

slightly back on topic, while i'd love to get a G5 it might be fun to get three of these G4s instead.

we'll it's just a rumor at the moment, but i'm predicting the thing will look a bit like a G4 Cube. so you'd get keyboard mouse, etc, just no monitor.

don't forget the joys of metasynth in the mac world as well, can't say enough good things about it.

also what does 1.2 ghz = in an intel based machine (please dont say 1.2)

by this i mean do the powerpc chips act like centrinos , or are they actually quite slow?

1.2ghz is certainly not the fastest mac on earth, but it should perform pretty well. there is not easy way to make a direct speed comparision between a powerpc and an intel chip, the chip is running at 1.2ghz but should be making more efficent use of those clock cycles (something ableton could still use a little work on) so you should see a faster machine then a 1.2ghz centrino for sure.

It was not my intention to start a mac/pc flame thread. I'm sorry people felt slighted in anyway by my words, for that also was not my intention. My intention was to share my opinion.

Now if this were the other way round, and I had condemned PC's and said "yes! Now I can finally afford a mac!!", would you be as accusatory as you are?

I have nothing against anyone on this forum, but when my opinion is interpretted as an act of aggression, that sort of bothers me, y'know. I don't like to be seen as an aggressor, for I am not.
