Obviously they're coming w/ something new... so Vj thingy? New imbedded VSTi? A synth? All three ( :D )... I hope for more "cryptic"/experimental kinda stuff (closer to Max not logic).
well i just hope for a FREE upgrade after the summer one. AND w/ bug fixes!!!!! A more stable version, optimized for Mac ?!?!? Live 3 WAS GREAT, v4 is a big leap but no quit finished though...

Best way to the top: one step at the time, damn it! LOL

Seriously. If Ableton have been spending the money I've paid them on R&D for another (fucking) soft synth, I'm going to get a bit pissy. But that's just me.

TBH I think introducing proprietary plugins is an attack on my personal freedom (;)) as I want to be able to use the plugins I want in the sequencer I want.

No! It's not just you ;-)

if mainly monolake is working on it, i bet it is going to be a fm or granular soft-synth. cause simpler is kind of a granular synth i bet it is fm.
i hope it is going to be vst-compatible, ... but i bet it is not. :-(

bah, if they did that then just don't buy it. when they see the kinds of things we thought it would be, maybe it'll go on a to-do list :)

I'm certainly not buying any form of synth/sampler anymore. I just have too much of it all already.
no longer needed. this is for you. you know who you are.

would it be a fair guess to say that ableton is going to start selling "Ableton loops?" they are trying to hired content designers.

i thought they were after a content manager. this would include not just the loops etc that go on the CD but also things like managing online content and also determining what new stuff gets put alongside with Live.

I doubt ableton is taking a cheap stab at the loops market for some quick cash! UNLESS they make a new format of time stretchable loops which do not leave us with the warping artifacts we all know so well

That doesn't make sense... so you don't like the fact that they added a proprietary sample player like the Simpler or a drum module like the Impulse? Both of which take up less CPU than ANY VST plug-in and both of which make it very easy, fast and convenient to create something within Live without needing to worry about any third-party plug-ins (for those that don't have any, though I personally have quite a few).

This also stays right in line with having Live being completely self-contained. So the next logical choice(s) would HAVE to be either a cool synth (which I would GREATLY appreciate if it didn't take up a lot of CPU; imagine an Ableton/Monolake style synth... it WOULD be very cool!) and/or a Sample Editor (the only time you MUST go outside of Live currently.)

Either way, I'm very excited about whatever these guys come up with as they have not dissapointed yet (unlike some Props I know of...)

I really hope it isn't another of these DVD sized loopbanks masquerading as a VSTi type of thing. It would take Live into some very dodgy (garage band) territory . Also it's not really enhancing the 'performance' aspect which makes Live stand out from the crowd.

But as far as controllers go: everyone's needs are different and there are controllers gallore out there already - it's even pretty easy to make one yourself!

I just hope they bring in ...

groupable hide-able tracks!

the ability to load more than one Live session - and crossfade between them ... Please, oh god please!
(I have to run traktor in the background now to cover the gaps!)

mp3 support - my laptop only has a 60 gig harddrive. I can think of 8 ways around this issue, I have already read the threads on why it isn't possible but they miss the point.

If these are in the next version I will be happy - they will help me play Live, live !

but I have all the synths, samples and controllers I need for now

I'm a really curious person, and i had a look in the Graphic/ressource of live 4.05B3and i've discovered something..........Maybe i'm wrong and it was there before, but i'm sure it wasn't...
Have look, there's a tif file with a name, maybe it's the name of the product...sorry Ableton if it should kept secret, so then delete my post..
Maybe i'm a dumb, and there's nothing to do with the new product..
