Left at 17 to SF CA with a $100 in my pocket.
I've never mooched off my parents, something about bleeding stones etc. :)

My studio and bedroom is in my basement, which is perfect, you can't hear anything at all outside even with a loud as hell drummer banging away!

currently my studio is a massive bean-bag in the corner of my bedroom. There is a large plant (very important), a small desk lamp, an MBP, DT770s and Firebox.

when I move to a bigger room, I'll set everything up again, but I'm enjoying not sitting at a desk at the moment.

VERY jealous about that. I suck at drumming but would love a basement to go bang on the skins or get stupid loud with the guitar amp.

necho - massive bean bags are awesome. I was looking for one years ago, couldn't find one.

Mine occupies about 1/4 of our living room (Thankfully its a decent size room).

Thats kind of had an interesting side effect - because the DJ gear that is associated with the music production gear gets used alot just as a hifi for listenign to CDs and/or mixing, then rest of living room has basically become a moderately well equipped small club with a permenant and well equipped DJ booth and far more so that Ive started seriously scaling back the hardware synths and racks and moving allmost completely to software based production.

Changed a bit since these (more lights)...

I have about 1/4 of a room on the ground floor of my house which I call "the studio" and everyone else in my family calls "the study".

I have to contend with my kids doing homework, the whole family using our internet computer and racks of washing drying (in the winter - it's actually pretty good for sound absorption!). But at night it's all mine!!
