Yes! it the most programmable. they are discontinued though so you might need to use ebay to find one. the new akai series looks cool though, it would be nice to have 8 faders and knobs. Man it would be great it M Audio released a next gen Triggerfinger!

I have a launchpad, they work great WITH a pad controller. (which is my current live pa rig)

padkontrol all day for drum pads. maschine is more than just a controller its a whole new daw. just depends what you want.

I tried one of those and I liked the feel of the pads, the way they lit up was very cool, and Korgs Programmer GUI is way better too, But I couldn't get over the lack of faders and knobs. X/Y pad is probably something nice to have though and the ability to switch Presets with dial might be a nice feature in a Live environment. Plus not being discontinued is pretty cool...

Maschine's pads are the best pads, period. They are so much more touch sensitive. It's ridiculous.

I've heard maschine is the best, never tried one though. I have pads on my axiom 49, mpk mini, and padkontrol, and the padkontrol wins hands down.

It goes like this in terms of sensitivity and responsiveness:
Maschine > padKONTROL > M-Audio (Triggerfinger/Axiom) > Akai (MPC/MPD/MPK)

I really enjoy my Trigger Finger. For the price I paid (around $80) it was a great investment, and it's held up great. It has a ton of presets that you can shift between on the fly, and it's very thin so it's easy to shove in a backpack.

I just got my mpd 26 and I'm so happy with my new purchased controller!
Just to say if anyone is interested that as the user manual says the pads from the mpd 26 are the same as the pads from the mpc 2500.
I had a check on trigger fingers some years back and it looked like a bit like a toy... The mpd looks rock solid and much more pro...

A lot of people bitch about the sensitivity of the MPD pads. Every controller has their benefits and drawbacks. Trust me, there's nothing toylike about the Trigger Finger.

An interesting characteristic of the Akai pads is that you can leave your finger on the pad and tap it somewhat with pressure. It is just fun having that option at one's disposal. I still prefer my Maschine for tapping out rhythms in general. Especially for holding notes. The Akai controllers just 'feel' like they expect you to press firmly to sustain notes.
