well put starving student - i am totally with you there
but seriously, 1.6 turned Maschine into a monster if you have some decent vst“s its just amazing how hands-on everything gets. quality reverb & compression in maschine itself is just asskicking - been playing with 1.6 for about 6 hours now and used it just in standalone for now, got awesome results so far. Running it as a plugin in Live allmost seems like "overkill"

Those are all coming. NI has been working on their own state of the art realtime timestretch algorithm specifically for Maschine for quite some time now and they are also working on multicore support. It's only a matter of time.
But as it's been mentioned before, it already surpasses Live in many key areas, such as being able to record realtime automation into clips, having a built-in LFO, a more flexible session view in the way you can loop multiple or single scenes (kinda like having follow clips for scenes), a brilliant tactile step sequencer with full visual feedback, parameter locks, easy way to have group mute/solo for live performance, and virtually everything being done just from the hardware controller. Not to mention browsing and loading sounds, plugins, and presets all from the hardware controller as well.
So although it's not meant to replace DAWs, it's becoming quite a formidable beast in its own right.

Stop with the selling speech. I already own Maschine

Yup. Every parameter of any third party plugins can be automated, even in realtime from the controller.
It really is a sick update. Maschine beats every software and hardware I've ever used in terms of workflow and user experience.

bump
do you know if automations are latency compensated?.
can you ie chain 3 hi latency vsts (ie linear phase eq) and rec 8 automs for them, keeping strong sync of all.
is midi clock for vst that have synced fx tight even after long latency vst chain.
please any adv maschine user answer me on that one, really need to know befor eventual buy. thx

I haven't had much time to play with the update yet, but does anyone know if it's possible to send a multi-out plug-in from one pad to other pads? For example if you loaded a dum machine like microtonic into a pad, can you get the individual drum sounds out to other pads? and get the sequence from a maschine pad into another? Seems like it needs something like the external instrument device.

Built-in MIDI routing and more is coming but not in this update as NI is making major structural changes for that.

Is there a way to do sidechained compression with Maschine 1.6 now ?
Also, I feel like this update can change the workflow with Live.
So far, I launched mashcine standalone, with 8 audio outputs to Live (for each group), through JackOSX.
Now I don't know what to do.
Just use maschine standalone, and do everything in maschine. Export or track to Live. ?
Where do I put my EQ. In maschine ? In Live ?
Should I use maschine inside Live so I can beneif from multicore ? I don't think so because the way Live handles multicore is 1 core per track so maschine VST in live - 1 track so it's still mono core I guess...
And now there is 16 outputs as well, instead of 8.
Maybe I Should route each pad to 16 tracks, and there is the different group for different parts of a song, so I can play in real time and evolve in the song through the groups ...
So many choices, head ache is coming !
Any thought about all this ? what's your take ?

Built-in sidechaining is being worked on and will likely come in the next update. For right now though, you could use something like this Reaktor sidechain compressor:

As for workflow, I use Maschine in standalone mode for production and then export/drag and drop to Logic as separate tracks for mixing and mastering.

Does Maschine do live looping?

Yup. To record live audio and play it back immediately after recording in sync, enable Input on all Sounds of an empty Group and choose your sampling source; now put a note on the first step of the Pattern for each Sound. In the Record Tab, choose sync-mode and select 1 bar (or any other length you wish to record). If you record to a Sound now, your recording will be looped right after the first bar. This allows you to record up to 16 separate Loops, all in sync to the other Groups. Make sure the Sound is in oneshot mode.

And of course, now you can load any looper plugins on a single pad in Maschine, like sooperlooper:
http://www.essej.net/sooperlooper/index.html
or even the loop machine in Guitar Rig.

That's cool, but now that I think about it, routing audio from one pad to other pads is more important. For example if you've got microtonic with 8 drum sounds and you want to route them out to other pads for separate effects. I guess thats not possible yet like in Kore?

they thanks delicioso.
I'm not familiar with reaktor, I think I've got it as the demo, or the limited version you know, the one you can download for free on their website. Can I still use this reaktor compressor ? Thanks

It's always looked cool to me, but for those of us that aren't really in need of a super cool beat machine, what's the advantage? How can it help me as I do live looping onstage with my Stick? I don't see that it's truly geared for on-the-fly live looping...
Here's one thread I found on the subject. Not too promising.
http://www.native-instruments.com/forum ... p?t=104981
Another. A bit bleak.
http://www.nativeinstruments.de/forum/s ... p?t=119096
I have to chuckle when I read things like

MASCHINE SURPASSING ABLETON LIVE!!!! THEY'D BETTER CATCH UP!!!

lol. I get where some of you are coming from with that - but most of those features are really quite DJ specific. There are other uses for Live, lol.
But hey...! The sample manipulation and onboard VST support and all that stuff is incredible. It's a shame that, so far, you can't really do much with it if you aren't a DJ and truly doing live performance that isn't pre-planned. Am I wrong with this thing?
