Maybe something to think about, even if you can't afford it (like I do for the moment), it's still very nice to be in there and with the combo of Simpler and Impulse , youu have a great way of still using it as ann excellent soundgenerator ...
Yeah, it's really incredible. People can make unlimited amounts of waveforms for the simpler. drumsounds for the impulse.
And they are going on about it like it's a bad thing.
go figure...

I would imagine that as this neat new synth was being coded the remaing staff was working VERY hard (havent they always been?!) on the latest additions to Live.
I reckon opening the structure to addons in this way required a loooot of work. And I would be surprised if there weren't other teams working on other addons as well.

*fingers crossed for the plugin-midi-out/arp addons*

Operator is a seperate PRODUCT. Its not a part of Live 4.1.

Operator is an OPTIONAL buy. If you want it, you BUY it.

The reason is because Operator is a SEPERATE product.

Its SEPERATE because Ableton are a BUSINESS and need to EAT FOOD as much as the REST OF THE WORLD.
Your talking Rubbish , look at steinberg i upgraded from cubase sx 2 to sx 2.2 and got "Embracer" synth for nothing , I also upgraded Reason 2.0 to 2.5 and got loads of new effects for nothing , Ableton should gave the operator for free , i was lead to believe it was when i bought live 4 just yesterday , now im gutted.

Who led you to believe Operator would be free? The Easter bunny?

No my friend, you're talking crap, and you're guilty of painting all developers with the same brush. Ableton are NOT Steinberg or Propellerheads, and they have as much right to earn money as you or I or anyone else.

If you want to use the synth, buy it, if not, shut the fuck up.

You got the effects in Reason 2.5 because Props' didn't have enough time to finish them off for the release of Reason 2.0

The way they saw it, you had already paid for the effects, they just didn't manage to finish their work in time.

Hey Amberience , when i registered Ableton live i ticked a box agreeing for Ableton to email me about news/newproducts etc , so they should of emailed me about operator not have a Demo forced upon me when im installing a Bug fix update , taking up 50% real estate in the Help menu.

Steinberg didnt make me install demo's of Hypersonic, xphase, halion when i wanted Bugs fixed.....

A VERY TACKY PLOY BY ABLETON , So im turning the table Amberience and saying your talking crap.

Emagic used to pull stunts like this but corrected the error of their ways once Apple grabbed hold of them

They did email everybody on their mailing list, telling their users about Operator.

They didn't force it on me or you. Nobody's putting a gun to your head saying that you have to buy Operator otherwise your copy of Live will de-authorize itself in 14 days, or something like that. Ignore it. Or actually try it out, instead of wasting energy getting yourself all worked up for no reason.

yes the Demo was forced on me or i would'nt of got the Bugs fixed...

and i did try it out , I tried a bell patch held down 3 keys on my midi keyboard and the CPU was 16% , I then held down the same 3 keys with spectrasonics atmopshere's biggest patch (hollywood strings) and the CPU was 10%.....so operator needs some serious work doing to it.
