It just would have been so much cooler if Ed had claimed that his knowledge of levitation had come from the Great Old Ones, and that the castle had been built for their return.

Here I can be seen channeling Ed's energy and actually spinning this 5 ton slab of coral. Look at the dirt on the lower right to see the gap.
