Also, based on the pic, it looks like the sound engine is just not up to scratch.

Even if someone created a viable Live competitor, id still stay with Live for something like 3 more years. Because so much of my work is invested in it. And if the Abes add the top 5 user wishlist during that period, I might stay even longer.
Get it while they are nearly giving it away as a cheap curiosity then take advantage of the cheap upgrades when v2 comes out
Im also guessing this where the issues come from - all the devs who knew the code buggered off leaving the newcomers to work out WTF their code did - hence 'hard to do', 'long time to do' type responses to many basic feature requests?

My guess is your guess is wrong. It's too simplistic.
The idea that they made some impenetrable and unfixable code is a bit unlikely. A bit insulting to them even !
I'm pretty confident they all made nice readable code that isn't written in pure evil and that the many remaining staff at ableton are fully able to edit it
Remember - plenty of staff have come and gone, it's just that these guys left publicly to make sexy mystery products, so we all know about it. Nobody seems to worry about the (other) staff who probably left to pursue a career in bookkeeping software, or organic alpine cheesemaking.
The "hard to do" comments are more because, well ... Imagine the difference between converting a motorbike into a car, and just making a hotrod from scratch. Ableton Live was a motorbike, people asked for more wheels to be added, the results were ...mixed.
I suspect Bitwig may have left to create a hotrod, from scratch.

You can scratch clips with it?

Okay... now I'm getting interested!

I, like other commenters here, am outraged!
Call that a product ??!? The GUI is barely legible, it seems very haphazardly laid out with all those thkngs on top of each other - making it very hard to understand!!1
The non-standard screen shape is very un-pro !! Also, pressing the few buttons I can actually see appears to do nothing!! I can't even get a sound out of it, Logictools pro meanwhile has more buttons and makes many sounds, all of them are excellent.
This is Not pro at all.
This product is worse that Final Cut Pro X.

Yeh whatever - it was a semi sarcy / cynical remark which gets the usual internet suck eggs response from someone who has probably been in the software business maybe doing enterprise IT/Web stuff for a few years?

Ad Hominems: a sure sign of being in the right
Nice one. You really told me, eh!
Look again at what you wrote first time round. There's no indication of it being a joke, sarcasm, irony, only what can be easily read as a bad forum assumption, repeated endlessly as 'fact'.
My response was extremely mild and contained nothing more than a realistic viewpoint. if you want to "cynically" spread disinformation about a product to it's users that's your choice, but am i really disallowed from trying to defuse your mendacity?
Of course, you can use your authority of "I'm a programmer don't you know!!" . But at a basic level : on the Internet if you are going to post a 'cynical and sarcy' misleading post on a subject that's been done to death - then complain at quite polite responses, then frankly you need to step away from the Internet for a while.
However, that's just my advice, what do I know, right?

+1
To me the visuals appear to be a cross between Ableton Live and Burn Studios Audiotool

Pretty sure he's not saying "a more realistic viewpoint."
Pretty sure it clearly says "nothing more than a realistic viewpoint," totally not relative to your viewpoint, which may or may not be realistic.
If you overlooked a difference like that in coding, you'd be in trouble!
