Where is ableton 9? :(
Re: Where is ableton 9? :(
In my experience, Live 8 doesn't crash that often (roughly the same amount as Logic). I can accept a few of those every now and then as I've never lost any of my work. The majority of my crashes are related to 3rd party plug-in use. I certainly wouldn't mind more stability in the future though.
Max for Live has turned out to be like Live 9 for me (or at least 8.5). There is such a wide variety of new tools available now that I don't ever find myself thinking about if there will be a Live 9 soon or not. I'm a satisfied customer at this point.

You are talking nonsens! simple as that...Sorry! But stay real! Live 8 is buggy and it crashes for the most people here and that is NOT okay! And yes 3rd plugins are also crashing Live but it is by far not the only reason here! Ableton has bad programmers simple as that!Xander415 wrote:In my experience, Live 8 doesn't crash that often (roughly the same amount as Logic). Re: Where is ableton 9? :(
Release a bug fix patch before 9 will release. That's what users want.
Re: Where is ableton 9? :(
I'm pretty sure they're just trying to get Share perfect for L9.
Why's that? I haven't given up using Live 7, but I've picked up Logic Studio and quite like it. For now I'll continue to use both...catsandwich wrote:Feel free to switch; you'll be disappointed.
Re: Where is ableton 9? :(
This may be fact for most Apple users (can't verify that), but on the Windows plattform I never had stability problems with Live 8 and it's the only DAW I use - even with many 3rd party plugs from NI, U-HE, Fabfilter and others. If I had five crashes the last 2 years, that's much.xzusa8ky wrote:You are talking nonsens! simple as that...Sorry! But stay real! I don't want to say that you are writing nonsens with that (because there seem to be more than a few users that have those problems). But it's really not true that mostly any users have stability problems.
The main reason why I'm looking forward to Live 9 is that I hope for some usability enhancements (that most likely won't happen anyway). And by the way I think Abletons silence the last weeks and month isn't a very professional way of handling customers. The beta testing for the next "stable" version continues since June and the last beta is present for three weeks now with no additional information or signs of a final 8.2.5 coming up. That has to be disgusting especially for Lion Users that still seem to have issues.
Maybe all the silence is kind of a silent sign for an announcement coming soon. But I wouldn't bet on that.

Re: Where is ableton 9? :(
How much is this to do with Ableton, and how much to do with Lion? Did you do a fresh Lion install or upgrade? I've heard some people have had problems, done a complete fresh install of Lion and it's magically solved all their problems. Personally Lion appears to working very well with 8.2.5b for me. Admittedly I haven't used it loads since it came out though, but equally haven't had a single crash.plopseaw wrote:Well, Ableton on Lion doesn't work for me even after the 'so called' beta. Audio breaks up with crackles and pops whether its my Focusrite or built in Audio. I agree with the earlier poster complete silence as to when a final solution will be there is bad.
Have you contacted tech support? Have they had anything to say? Maybe the slow release of 8.2.5b2 or final is because they're fixing the bug you're having trouble with? Or maybe you've got a duff Lion install, who knows. I assume you've them know all these crashes though, since there's no point running a beta program if people don't let them know all the bugs still left or problems with it.
I agree they should really have an official Lion version by now, but equally I knew this was a risk I decided to take by buying a new OS. It is taking the piss a little though that there were developer releases of Lion, then the offical release, and now a month later 10.7.1 is out and still no news. It's not like I'm waiting for a Lion compatible Live 7, and if you buy a new mac now you can't NOT be running Lion (without either a load of hassle, or it not properly supporting your hardware if it's an Air/Mini). Just a bit of info on how it's going would be nice...

All I was doing was sharing my personal experience with the program. I certainly wasn't implying that other people aren't having issues. Who are you to tell me I'm talking "nonsense"?

Re: Where is ableton 9? :(
I think they should scrap ableton 8 bug fixes now and release a 64 bit ableton 9 with the ability to record automation to clips (relative only) and also a special global automation track in session view(absolute only) so that you could store global automation clips in it. This way each scene could have its own saved automation.
Then they should as way of apology give it to registered ableton 8 users with a free licence which would expire in x months where x = time owned ableton 8. At the end of the free period customers may purchase with a discount of z% where z = x * 3. So if you'd owned ableton for 12 months youd get a 36% discount on the current price at the end of your 12 month free licence. Also, every time a bug is discovered in ableton 9 and its not fixed within one month, those users would get an additional 5% off!

Re: Where is ableton 9? :(
If Live 9 is really such a way off it would be nice for Ableton to release an 64bit update for 8 in the meantime.
There are other features which would also be nice to have but I can wait for those, 64bit though would be the one that would be very handy right now.

Thats true, but this was not succesfull as Garritan acquired Gigastudio in 2008...kitekrazy wrote:That's the symptoms of a larger company acquiring rights to software from smaller developers.
