going back to regular drum samplers, DR008, Battery, RM IV... imho DR 008, is by far the best buy. you'll get great analog and some classic drum machines (808, 909...) samples with it. included sound generators are awesome and have (guess what?) RANDOM function.
***see above. i don't think included samples should be an influence because you can get those samples and put them in impulse or battery or whatever you're using.
you can adjust some really cool kicks with it (didn't like the kicks in Microtonic and Attack).
and i'll end up this review with clishe thought that, in the end, we'll have to admit to ourselves that only the gifted ones are making good music. it really doesen't matter (that much) what we use.

I use a three-headed monster of:
Battery 2 - With the new enhancements, workflow is finally where I think it should be, its dead easy to do everything in and everyway
Microtonic - For when you need that nice analog sound, you can't beat it!
Stylus RMX - Swiss tool of loops, percussion, single hits, ability to use the chaos engine on REX files.. its really amazing

i don't have stylus rmx, but i've seen the demo and that chaos effect is mighty nice. andrew

Also, check out DrumCore. It uses a lot of hard drive space, but sounds fantastic.

you said you wanted good acoustic drums as well as electronic ones right? Battery 2's multi-mic and multi-stick kits are super acoustic drum kits.
