I will fiddle with the settings when I get home to try and lower it.

Do glitches due to buffer size and CPU spikes go hand in hand>?

I think if I go any lower my sets will be glitching out....time for a new comp?!?

^ yep. worth a shot if you're on a PC. i don't think there is a Mac version.

glitches from buffer size are going to happen if if the buffer is too small, yes. that's why you have to tweak it to find the sweet spot (lowest latency while still delivering flawless audio playback).

if you can't get down to 15ms (or less) of overall latency then maybe try the Edirol website to see if new drivers are available... otherwise, ASIO4ALL could be the way to go.

i dont use a4all for the in-out-in configuration you are looking for , but for in/rec its the shit...to test anyway, def before getting a new comp, no

lower buffers would make your computer work harder, it has to go read and write to the I/O registers more often. I've never written a driver for a sound card or a DAW but seems logical to me.

I dropped $800 on a new Dell PC last year, latency at 48kHz is lower than the latency at 192kHz on my old machine. my jaw hit the floor when I found out latency wasn't much of an issue anymore.

I've always used ASIO4ALL.

currently driver type is set to ASIO device is set to Edirol FA-101.

I just googled and installed ASIO4ALL v2. Are ya'll recommending to use ASIO4ALL v2 as the device instead of the Edirol FA-101?

I have thought for the longest time I have been using ASIO4ALL because ASIO was listed as the driver type...thanks for all the info. You learn something everyday.

use ASIO4ALL as the device driver for your FA-101. FWIW I have the USB version of that card, it's served me well since Live 6.

I feel like I've been in the dark. I love my sound card. I think I will love it even more now if this helps with my issues. Will report back. Thanks again.
