I'm glad to see continued progress in the application in general.
No offense to you guys who are upset about the Soundcloud addition, but realize that not everyone uses Live to produce #1 Beatport hits. If it's functionality you don't care about, then please continue not caring - they didn't take away the option to export each stem individually as a 32 bit .wav. They didn't even make the process more trivial.
To say that they should be focusing on bringing more important features to Live -- what do you think they've been doing? Have you seen their listings for job opportunities over the past year? Obviously they are getting ready to do something. They've had massive pushes for high level programmers in the past, even recently, and just a week ago announced a bunch of marketing and product release related positions.
This partnership with Soundcloud is brilliant from a business point of view, because they just gave
every single person who uses Soundcloud a FREE ticket into Ableton Live's upgrade path to PAY for a full version of Live 8. And then, likely in the near future, they will be paying AGAIN to upgrade to Live 9. If you think the option to Export to Soundcloud was exclusively "Let's give our userbase this extra option, they might like it" you are nuts. It's a marketing partnership that has immense benefits both companies, and even the user.
Part of providing amazing tools for you to use is to make sure they can continue to improve upon them in the future. Sometimes people forget Ableton is a proper business.
Also, pepzabala, you have earned an lol with your list

8.7: Tabbed internet browser in session view

A new Device for Twitter integration might be interesting. "@timtilberg: HALP HE CAN'T EQ OR PAN AND I SOUND TERRIBLEEEE! OGAWD. NO. NOW HE PRESSED UPLOAD TO SCLOUD. #failsauce"
I agree, recording session view automation/modulation will be sweet. As they've said in the past though, it's a huge task, and obviously worthy of a key feature for a future version so that they can collect payment for their work. I would be surprised if after all of this time, a future major release didn't include some of the most highly sought options such as this, and 64 bit support. Everyone knew what was and wasn't in the program when they bought Live 8 -- so any of these features they add now are just bonus, even if individuals don't find them necessary.

I probably wont use the option, but a partnership/connection with soundcloud is a smart move on Abletons part imo.

biggest thing I miss about DP7 when I'm working with Live. Don't think that'll come in an update though.
One thing, automatic updates has the potential to bite them in the ass. Too many times does an update make somebodies machine somewhere wonky. Seems like the kind of thing added by people with no experience running a big company; something you might expect from Bitwig or Ohm in their 1.0 release that they remove in 1.1, which is simply bizarre in Ableton's case?
I agree about the auto updates. I just installed 8.3, and the option to disable this was the first dialogue box to pop up after the usual installation click-throughs. I don't see them removing it, but having it disabled, by default, in the future. It was enabled, when I installed it.

Twitter integration would possibly create an annoyance for many followers. I vote no on that. I'd fancy 64 bit, perhaps in 9, and as a focused major update. A large potential issue I can see with 64 bit, is user confusion regarding 32/64 bit vst placement, which I personally would love to read the threads about.

Twitter support for Live is ridiculous; they need to catch up to the other daws and put a realtime rss reader into the help view, otherwiser I'm switching to ohmstudio!

you'd think they'd have the mp3 export option before the upload to soundcoud option.

Perhaps I should have used the quote feature on pepzabala's humorous list of what Ableton user's want -- I certainly wasn't suggesting it for real, and neither was anyone else hahaha
And,

Agreed. I wonder if it's a licensing cost thing? I don't know. Weird. I've always hated having to make that extra step in a separate application.

Yeah, business is good for everyone. How about selling advertising space on the useless empty clip-space on the return channels? Could be a fantastic "feature" for Live 8.4.

Actually though I'm sure a scrolling reader in the File Manager window won't be a big deal not too long from now...maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it. Not to mention you can already hack your own notes there with pics, etc. Maybe it can be hacked with some php too

And the ads get less and less the higher you go in licenses until Suite which has none.

Let's not get too idealistic here. You'd at least see something in a spectrogram when you render your music like..."PM Classics! 33% Off!"
I'd prefer to keep it simple and just have those simple cartoon porn ads in that little help view at the bottom left.
Better yet, that should be the chat view when they have realtime online collabo. I think they'll bring that in version "The New Live"

I don't understand why people feel so burned by Ableton over the Soundcloud integration? When you bought Ableton Live 8, you knew what features it did and didn't have. Why should you expect any wishlist items to be added in? This extra nugget is an unexpected addition that makes more money for Ableton to continue to pay their programmers the big bucks they deserve, more money for SoundCloud to continue to provide their unique music hosting services the way they do, and added value to at least some (more likely 'many') users who post their music online.
Perhaps as a current paying Soundcloud user I'm biased here, but I'm having a hard time seeing the lack of benefit to this upgrade -- To say that they aren't addressing "wishlist" items is silly. Are they not? Unless you work within Ableton, you have no idea what they are actually working on alongside these smaller updates. They will release these additional features when their timing is correct, and ask you to pay for them. The fact remains, they need to make money to keep making our loved product.
Anyway, I did enjoy reading your wishlist, my lol at it wasn't sarcasm. I disagree with the idea that it is a frivolous addition, but still maintain a sense of humor.
And shadx312 -- haha I wasn't sure. This (as most) has been a very touchy thread!!!
simple cartoon porn ads in that little help view at the bottom left.

Only if you can trigger clips to rate them up and down.

The default installation path of the Live application has changed on Windows. More information can be found in our Knowledge Base.
I can't find anything in the Knowledge Base. Anybody else find anything, or know what's the deal with it wanting to install into ProgramData insteaad of Program Files (x86)?

There isn't that much info about it in the knowledge database anyway, but there is more info in one of the top threads in the beta forum.
