how is the electronic scene there now days any good links?

poka, Milka

There's a lot going on, but you've got to look. I was trying to find more experimental scenes, and there would be regular events that would pop up at one club or another, and then the club would go bust or decide they don't need weird electronica, and you'd have to go look somewhere else.

On the weather side, at least, Moscow is more or less consistent. New York is totally schizophrenic-- +12C yesterday, snow and hail today.

Haven't been there yet, but you can try Kun kafe on Fridays, for some IDM and minimal... or Phlegmatic dog on thursdays for decent techno...
If you like electro, soul or funk, Kult is a sure bet. Mio occasionaly invites good dj's... lots really...

The best live performances I've seen here were in a good ol' club called 16tonns.

As for the pafosny clubs, ppl there are too busy trying to look rich to care about good music... ;)

Cool, I'll have to check out Kun... I agree, Kult does usually have good stuff playing; am not so much into techno/dj scene...

I actually played my last Moscow gig at 16 tons, so yeah, I like the place. :) I also think 35mm (= Avant) now brings some really good acts.

oups... just noticed I misspelled the name of the place. isn't "kun" but "goon kafe", with a "g"... aahh russky iazyk...

As for 35 mm, a month ago there was a Lalipuna concert there in the main hall (btw they use Live on stage!!!) The concert was good, but the surroundings - reminiscent of a canadian high school ;) - and most of all the parmel-garanteed bochkarioff in plastic glasses, were a bit of a turn off...
But after, we went to the bar downstairs there was some local rock/indie bands... Was really great. Cool atmosphere there.

Btw when was that concert you gave in 16tonn?

Well, yeah... All the shows I've seen there were in that downstairs bar, actually. Patrick Wolf played there last year... Was his best show out of the four I've been to.

End of Jan. A friend of mine and I were "opening" for this:

there must be an English version somewhere, damn it...
