Regarding Eno, IF he said that, what he is talking about is imposing order on chaos. He doesnt need to randomly bang the keys anymore though now that computers are so prevelant.
He even has an iphone app called bloom, which is a generative music app that people can interact with using nothing but visuals and gestures and it all comes out pretty.

But Im sure he'd be crushed if someone told him its a musical crutch.

thats a very common concept, and a very normal response..whether one notices it or not, and if thats actually the dumbest thing youve heard you must have been sleeping all those years

scale, chord, and quantise are all crutches, in the sense that they allow one to bypass basic musical skills...i understand that other aspects of music making are more important to some, and there are only so many hours in the day..but what i said is true, so i said it again...everyone whos feathers were ruffled over that just danced around the fact...not snobbery either, its an observation

Since you seem to want to justify your silliness now, (and preen your own feathers) if you acknowledge there are myriad ways to use the devices that are not relevant to your point, you are at best only partially right. Not simply "right". And even your partial "rightness" is mostly wrong, because these devices can actually teach someone the scales they are trying to learn - if they give a fuck about music theory.
Again though, doesnt matter. What matters is that people get something from the thread.

warp can do a few things that no one would ever be able to do outside a daw, many that you dont even notice Live is doing for you

if you cant see the difference between warp and scale though? there is nothing really to say

but if you use warp and scale,quantise to fix your offtime, offkey recordings? yes

Fixing off-time and off key recordings is just a crutch man.
