Is midi not really one of it's strong suits?
Was midi an afterthought?

I honestly want to know being new to this program.
i don't think you understand what is going on under the hood.

for example, the Guitar-Wide Acoustic patch is very CPU intensive. apart from all the effects, it is built upon a Tension patch. Tension is a physical modelling device, which means it calculates the sound on the fly based on algorithms.

just because something is being triggered with MIDI doesn't tell you much at all, the CPU usage will be dictated by how the virtual instrument you are triggering generates its sounds...

Originally, yes. Midi and vsts came along at version 4.

It was also designed to process everything on the fly, whatever you do. Something other daws don't have to worry about. So CPU load will always be a little higher.

However, for the vast majority of people with a half decent computer, running a load of tracks isn't a problem.

Your results seem below par. Don't give up yet.

Thats an under statement. I ran across a video online.
It was a DJ. I know that comes as a surprise. ;)

You should have seen all the scenes and plugins etc in his set list.
And he was running the video software.
Who knows what kind of rig he was running.

Well....what now?
I know that there are a lot of things running in the background of my computer.
But some of it I don't know what it is and some seems like essential to the operation of my computer.
The last thing I want to do is brick my computer.

It seems like a lot of the sounds are based on algoritms as opposed to sample based.
The drums being one exception. I'm sure there are more.
So I guess CPU stress is always going to be an issue.

Is my computer up to the task?
I am still trying to know that answer.
And also how to get it running as lean as possible.
I still would like some help.

Thanks

Is it possible for someone to send me what they consider a processor heavy track so I could compare how it is being handled on your system as compared to mine?

Thanks again fishmonkey.

Although someone said earlier in this thread about processor being on separate track(rough paraphrase)
It helped me to read it.

I ran the test. But I also ran several instances of the Guitar Wide. My processor never went over about 30%
with two instances runing simultaneously.

Now that I'm more aware of what triggering what processor I can plan my tracks accordingly.
