If your music is amazing, no one will really care what you do onstage...
same if your music is shite...
anyway, who cares, apart from people from the inside (us, other djs, artists...)??

Nobody cares about your skillz, which is why 9 out of 10 bars are filled with DJs who couldn't even beat iTunes auto-fade if their life depended on it.
And to be that number 10, you need to sell your soul and kiss some ass even better than the 9 in front of you.
It's the sad truth

hence why I sold my shit.

How stuff Works Podcast...anyone listen? this week was How Disco Works
and how 'real musicains' (rock at the time) started to decry the loss of interest in Real music and about the debate over DJ's being worthy to exist since they didnt make the music
that was fucking 1973, 40 years ago....seems not much has changed, or been resolved...

The real reason for the hand-flip... your music is so damned hot that the controller feels like it's on fire! Jesus! Every time I trigger that sample my fingers get burned! But I just can't stop the music! OW! OW! OW! OW!

i think its a good thing... the hand flip. this way when the career in music fizzles out and the twenties are all but used up... the skill set is already in place for the next big gig - fry cook.

Angstrom wrote:I demand that all Ableton Live users who perform in the 'button pressing' style should develop ever more weird and exaggerated hand movements.
I think each button press should be coupled with swiftly turning the hand palm up wards and pointing toward the ceiling during the snap-back phase. So a button press, snap back and twist up and point at the ceiling.
A Full marks score requires that the hand reaches at least shoulder height on the up-pointing snap-back.
i laughed for 3 min.

still feeling residual chuckles

LoopStationZebra wrote:Don't know about the 'flip', but certainly the move where you quickly yank your hand back after pushing a button is awesome.
I catch myself doing it from time to time - then lock myself in a dark room and flog myself repeatedly out of shame.

oh fuck you guys , today is a good day
