Ok, I got my answer..
No needs to transform any button to a MK2 button since you can use the 8 knobs under the screen...

Anyone know when the latest official Native Instruments template came out?
this instructional video for the template was posted 2012, but is there a newer official release? (

seems pretty cool. Can't find a text manual on it though. But at least somebody put some kind of instruction on how to use it.

just as an update to my own question, if you go to NI Controller Editor > Help, there is a whole manual on how to use their template. Looked a long time for this info til someone pointed it out to me recently. thought i'd update in case that helps anyone else. I feel NI did a good job on their ableton template
