So this thread was started 8 years ago in 2012. Still no surfaces (knobs, faders) seem to be controllable using the mouse wheel in Ableton. It'd be really nice if this could find its way into an update (soon).

We really need mouse wheel support for edit parameters and faders.
I hope Ableton will do it soon!...

I would love to adjust the Q in EQ 8 using the mouse wheel.

and what about middle mouse button press to pan/move around the arranger view/device slots panel??
instead of holding CTRL+ALT+LEFT MOUSE as it is now (3 buttons to do one thing), would be better with just one = middle mouse button....

I really need a better solution for controlling parameters with mouse over or similar.
nob Control is great but more than 300€ for a big knob is a lot, even with its fancy wooden finish and good build quality.
Thirdparty software solutions are either not easy to configure (Bome's) or have issues like a messed up undo list where each step needs a separate undo like in the max for Live "ONE" device.
I came closest with Bome's Translator Pro using a Pioneer DJ DDJ 400 Controller Jogwheel, where a touch on the surface was mapped to click and rotation to mouse movements either up down or left right, but that solution needs space for a DJ Controller i doesn't have.

11 years and a no go. I'm not overly fussed, but it's something that really needs to happen.
