Probably because he’s the only electronic keyboardist on the planet who knows how to play keyboard instead of clicking around in the piano roll in a DAW with scale and chord plug-ins in the chain.

yeah, all the rest overdosed years ago.

when they realized the keyboardist never gets any pussy no matter how talented.
Fixed.
Bolded because LZS demands it.

unless, of course, the keyboardist happens to have a pussy
supreme fix

Left as is because I think we now covered it.

That's a good summary of my biography right there (not that I'm all that talented)

God I hope not! Is nothing sacred anymore?
Oops...only referring to J.R. of course. Would LOVE to see a new Nord synth. I once owned a Lead 2x and loved it. Had to sell due to university expenses.

Oh for crying out loud....the JR haters here need to get real. So what if he endorses products. You'd do it too. I've met him several times. The guy is a legend and one of the most prolific keys players ever. This guy sees all of the signs and the numbers, and aside from that, he's a genuinely sweet and down to earth fella. Listen to do his thing on Octavarium. As a guitarist, his stuff on that Haken Continuum gives me the chills.

Get that Emerson Lake and Palmer bumpersticker off your Ford Taurus guy.

ELP lost me with Tarkus. I do fancy some of the early Gabriel era Genesis though. Banks was the shit.

Gabriel era Genesis was the best... Tarkus was the first vinyl I ever bought (using my savings from my Newspaper round) I think I thought the cover was cool... I dragged it out a couple of months ago, when I got my turntable working again...
All I'll say is it's funny what you thought was great when you were younger. Mind you, I still think Zappa is/was a genius (as I did as a teenager too)
Going through all the LP's I collected and listened to over the years since, there was a definite pattern of appreciation of electronic music. 'Moog' was a very common instrument listed on the LP liner notes...
(Come to think of it the
second piece of vinyl I bought (at a church fete, again, I was intrigued by the cover) was 'Switched On Bach' by Wendy (then Walter) Carlos.

Whatever talent the guy has is far outweighed and overshadowed by his constant SHILLING. It's beyond just trying to make an extra buck or two...it's a nonstop and meaningless plethora of endorsement sound bytes:
THIS APP IS AWESOME!
I'M REALLY INSPIRED BY THIS UNIT!
FINALLY A WALL OF SOUND FOR UNDER $100!!!!
Zzzzzz.
Personally I find the guy's playing to be utterly soulless. He's like the Steve Vai of keys - it's all by the numbers chops that you honestly fucking forget just 30sec later. He did some Christmas song awhile back using one of his apps that was so mind numbingly awful that I was gouging out my ear drums after the first 20 sec.
Soul. Less.
