Thanks! It's good to see that the company is responsive to user requests.

I honestly don't want to get picky about "this rule or that rule" for posting in a forum dedicated to music posts, nor do I really care about the specific format... I just wanna go one place to check out some good tunes made in Ableton and have a place to put some of my links up.

This will be super cool once it's up and running!

Hi everybody,

yesterday I searched the forum about postings of you regarding rules for that new forum. But I couldn't find any. The forum is getting to big I guess.

Could you be so nice and post your point of views about how this forum should work again or links to the posts that talk about that.

Some things that are already clear:
- One new forum on top level besides "General", "Buges & Problems", "Wishlist" and "Tips & Tricks".
- Your songs need to stay on other servers and you can only link to them in this new forum, basically the same way like in the "post your music" thread.

I'd rather not see any rules. Maybe the suggestion that the poster leave some sort of short description in the title about the song like:

[techno] track name or [other] track name [dj mix] etc. - this may make searching for tracks in a particular genre easier.

In the thread the length of the track, file size and an idea about the link - is it a direct mp3 link, link to a host site where one must register, zip file, self contained .als etc.

ie. My track is 12 minutes long, located at www.xxx Self contained .als 54 megs

And if the person likes also some information about the track, how they put it together, where they drew inspiration from, etc.

If the person would like a rating they may create a poll.

And that's about it. I'd prefer to see it without a lot of regulations, like the other forums here.

The original rules I mentioned could be summed up:

If you can't take criticism, then say so (so nobody cries)

If you give criticism, make sure it's constructive

Please only post tracks made / edited / or otherwise effected by Live. I don't see a point in having somebody's Protools projects up here.

That's about all I would suggest I suppose... Really, the less rules the better.

I agree one hundred percent. Live should definitely play a central role in any project posted.

Also, in order to post a track the user should have to have their software registered.

i think that is irrelevant. Later on we want a forum only for ''the registered VST users''....

The less rules the better, in that way we all learn from ''new things'' witch won't happen when we restrict ourselves to rules.

No no not at all. It's not so much to be exclusive......

This is just my thought. Sometimes there are strange posts on the board and often times I wonder to myself, is this person legitimate or did they download a crack.

It's really none of my business and this is why I dare not voice my suspicions when I have them. But, if a person is running a crack I do support having them not able to participate in the music forum. Why should they be allowed?

I'm also not taking some "moral high ground" as I have been guity in the past of running cracked or borrowed sotware, primarily design software that I did not have the money for. But, I never, in a million years considered going to their company forums to ask for help or bitch about the product.

The "registered users" system seems to have been implemented fairly well on the propellerheads board. Also, given the system for unlocking and registering Ableton software it seems like it would be pretty unintrusive for the legitimate users.

As long as the user has paid for their software there really shouldn't be a problem should there?

On the other hand it may be a bad idea and could make implementation tougher for Ableton than it needs to be. It may also cause problems because there are always legitimate users who refuse to register their software due to privacy reasons.

Regardless, I support the idea. I would not be mad or anything if it were not registered only - just voicing my thoughts.....

ConneKted, this is just my opinion and I don't mean to offend. I hope that we can continue to share cat milk stories.
