Re: Live 9.1 any news
ok so now we have "dual monitor support" I do think it's kind of a clunky solution. What they could have done is make an actual modular, dockable interface so it would give the user full flexibility. To my eye, Ableton's already minimalist interface design would lend iteself quite well to that. But now you really get just that, a second window. With a duplicate set of transport controls which is just wasting space. And if you want to use this functionality while using a single monitor just to get a mixer and arrange view up at the same time, it's possible but again both windows will have transport controls and the OS's window graphics all needlessly taking up space. And of course there's no saving of layouts so for use with a single monitor it's just too impractical because you can't easily switch between a two window/single window layout.
Re: Live 9.1 any news
on a big enough monitor it solves the problem.
seems to me that the dual transport controls resolves the issue of 'which view do you want as primary?' besides, you have transport controls on both Arrange and Session view regardless of new methods of separation.
cut em some slack... people have been bemoaning lack of dual monitor support for a long time... seems too soon to judge with an but you ain't doin right mentality when it's just rolling out the gate...
remember there are a lot of ways to use Ableton Live. figuring out the best way for every. single. user. is a daunting thought and task... I don't envy them in this regard.
your points are valid.
still, I have no doubt that refinements will come.
