I have mixed feelings about that demo model actually. They both have merit.
I was jamming in Bitwig this morning, and while my little jam wasn't that good, I was a little disappointed that if somehow I did pop out a masterpiece during the demo, I wouldn't be able to save it and continue even if I bought it. However, like Reason's infinite demo, it's nice to be able to crack it open willy nilly as I please, even if I want to give it a shot again in a few months. Reason has the added advantage though of being able to use it exclusively for instruments in ReWire mode, even in demo.
Live's demo version is obviously solid, but I'm always terrified to "begin" a 30 day trial because I'm afraid I'll get tied up in other things, and the 30 days will whoosh past. I've had the 30 day trial of Final Cut Pro X downloaded and ready to go for about six months now, but never turn it on because I'm always afraid of not making good use of it.
That said, I'm sure if you were to send Ableton a support request to reset your activation -- they probably would, within reason.
