Nah man, wasn't looking to debate, just didn't/don't understand what you're referring to.

I used to spend way too much time discussing this kind of stuff, and over the years I've learned it's a very small aspect of what makes things sound good. Good to know in theory, and always aim for the best, but on some levels there are differences that will always be so miniscule as to be open to debate endlessly.

If people are that split on something, aim for the best but don't stress about it too much I say

Please read my original post. This isn't a generalised audio quality debate. This is about softsynths, and the extra step of downsampling that occurs in Ableton when exporting to 24bit.

You can bang on all day about the lack of hard facts. But it IS a hard fact that converting audio to different formats DOES damage it and does degrade the quality.

So, if I may reiterate the focus of this thread. In Ableton, when exporting softsynths, exporting to 32bit will prevent any bit depth conversion, thereby resulting in better audio, correct?

PS. And thank you kindly for your opinions, but in this case, it's not really relevant if you can hear the difference on your various systems - I'm investigating fidelity I can measure, not hear. Thanks though.
