Sorry but I always expected the thread lock without a discussion with us to be exactly because of laziness.

So it does not sound like there is going to be a change in that regard either then.

And being critical is not "being down".

Being disappointed may be, but alas.... :(

Personally I think Tarekith is the perfect choice for moderator.
The banning of politics and religion here is somewhat disappointing considering the original philosophical reasons for the lack of moderation here, but it is a company forum no matter how hidden from view. The fact that a company would embrace an open community ideal in the first place was part of my original love of the software, and sadly that has passed into the ether.

The whole random moderation thing we've dealt with for a few years now is far worse IMO than what we hopefully see now.

Yep. I've said it before that if I was moderator here I'd wreak destruction at the slightest provocation. Oh? You want to recreate Darude Sandstorm? Banned for life!
You banner posted with one of your "comedy" alts? Congratulations because I just gave your mother Anal Syphilis using your brother's torn off penis.

Tl;dr I am not suited to the job.

^^

I don't have the time, I get chunks of time to post etc. then I'm stuck at work for weeks on end...

Plus it would be hard to ban amusing trolls, boring ones no problem. Plus there are mostly a couple topics for song lyrics, life love, sex/fun, and politics religion. I couldn't ban half the topics of song lyrics without getting paid for it. :x

FWIW, when I was first asked about taking over this role, my main concern was "how does this fit into the way the forum was before"? If I'm to be tasked with helping to make/keep this place what Ableton wants, what standards do I have to use? I too remember the days when the forum was clearly stated to be a bit of a corporate hands off no-mans land in terms of what was allowed, Ableton didn't want to get involved unless someone was WAY out of line.

I think it's fair to say that things are guided to be a little more on-topic these days, and all indications is that this is how Ableton would prefer things to be right now. No one wants to deal with moderating topics that stray a little bit as conversations sometimes do, these forums are social outlet for me as well as you after all. At the same time, no one wants to watch two people just insult each other back and forth in the middle of a thread that might be useful to other people.

I think given the way things have been the last few months, we're not going to have any problems or see anything too drastically different. And of course, I'm not the only admin here, Julien is doing it too.

Well thank you either way for your help Taraketh and Julien. I've moderated and ran forums before and its not much fun. You end up getting a lot of PM's where people are trying to do your job for you and you have to try to tell them why you don't agree with them etc...

So I don't envy you but appreciate some sort of moderation happening sometimes.

@ Tarekith - maybe you could ask Ableton if they could make a new section called "Tom's V" where Tom can then post his world view manifesto in one place instead of pounding it into us two or three pages at a time per thread.

@ Tom - i got you buddy!
