yeah you wont argue about it, anonymouse.

You should think about what you say, and maybe research it before you speak.

Before you jump to the defense of Big Oil and Big Medicine, OR BILL GATES, maybe you should figure out what the are doing.

Maybe gates is giving 95% of what he makes to Africa, BUT IN WHAT FORM?

Aid to African Governments who comply with Microsofts desire to have cheap minerals?

Aid to African Governments who take the task of Enslaving their own, or their warring rivals, in order to provide cheap labor?

Aid to Aids suffering Africans...As long as they convert to christianity, or take a job on the Foreign goldmining ship off the coast, or euthanize their babies?

Maybe you should take a LONG HARD look at HOW aid to Africa and other 3rd world areas has been used before to manipulate free labor or easy and willing guinea pigs, before you go declaring your admiration for the corporate elite.

Your ignorance exposes itself in the discussion of such topics.

And its more like building a car with a theif built into the back seat. It looks and smells like a car, but really its sold to be stolen back by the inventor.

Or maybe its more like selling a car with what appear to be broken parts. So you have to keep coming back to the place you got it to get new, working updates of the broken parts...Only the entire thing was just a trick to get you to A) download built-in spyware B) get you back into the store C) get you to unwittingly sign a User license agreement that gives permission to Microsoft to Look inside your computer anytime they want (but under the facade of copyright protection)

The Moral of my post...think before you defend Corporate Criminals.

Research how the B&M foundation are managing their charity. You clearly know absolutely nothing about it.

I made no defense or comment on "Big Oil and Big Medicine"; I don't know what you are referring to there.

What are Microsoft acquiring minerals for? You do need to educate me on that.

Thanks for the lesson on Africa and sharing your knowledge. It is always cool that people in LA are aware of these things.

All your other observations are amazing. You should reveal these secrets to the rest of the world - people need to know about it.

Great arrogant dumbass impression. I was totally convinced by your last post that you were an obnoxious pompous fuckwit who'd just read his first foreign newspaper. You LA boys, friggin hilarious dude.
And I thought I was the only one who thought this of Mr. "I hate smileys" Computo...

Someone piss on your poptarts, Computo? You always seem to be in such a good mood? Why not today?

Woooops...

OK, let's give Bill the benefit of the doubt. We all still have some thinking to do about the way that our technological culture relies on Africa for resources such as coltan (used in computer chips and mobiles). It's causing massive environmental stress, encouraging greedy gangs of warlords and virtually enslaving local populations to extract the ore. If we just pour money into those areas we won't solve the problem. If we help people develop meaningful ways of earning a living AND find alternatives to coltan then we can start to help people and move on with a conscience.

So... how about an Ableton Live compilation CD/MP3 d/l with all proceeds going to some development charities? Music made using Live by forum users and anybody else with the clout to attract an audience... windows and mac users both welcome... :)

you two are good at pissing in eachothers mouths at least.

Why dont you guys send me a prospectus on how "B+M" Dole out their money.

You can try and laugh me off because I live in LA, but your ignorance reigns supreme, downthere in, where do you live? Texas? hahahaha, that puts it in perspective!!

I just moved here so there goes your witty remark. I guess someone from Cleveland and Boston is more likely to be educated right? you morons.

Computers, including your Windows PC, need ALL KINDS of Chemicals and minerals. The crystal in your audio interface, For example.

You guys seem content to call me names, but you have nothing to back up what you say...I guess I misread your post about Oil and Med industry, however, to say MS "plays it pretty safe" is downright retarded. Unless you think censoring the words Freedom and democracy from the internet, just because the Chinese Govt dont wnat their subjects to see them.

You guys are good at name calling, as well as turning your eyes from history.

oh yeah, and in case you didnt know, there is a PR firm in charge of building the image of the B&M gates foundation. They dont just give money to Africa. They have a firm whose charge it is to make the Gates' look good.

So I'd be careful how you respond to the question of how the money they donate is used before you jump on the Live 8 bandwagon.

Global Aid, especially coming from supposedly charitable sources (UN, UNESCO, etc.) often comes merely as a disguise. What it means, is forced vaccinations, forced euthanization, forced population control and other control mechanisms. i.e. Your nation can only have this aid, if you reduce your population by 20%.

If you dont believe me, thats fine, you need to start reading. First, read "the best democracy money can buy" by Greg Palast.

Then come back to this conversation a bit more informed.

wow 46 billion dollars 8O my respect for bill gates has slightly risen.

i'm not sure why, but it smells kinda fishy to me. there has to be a reason involving money problems for him to donate 95% of his enormous wealth.

but honestly, if he indeed donated out of desire to help people in need, and the fact that he didnt try to get the press too involved (i havent seen this on tv at all), then i really respect him.

you should respect Bill for this period. it's his wife who started doing this so the Gates family is into charity not only Bill. I am not a Bill fan and don't like his protectionism with all these legal stuff MS is doing. they want to push everyone out of the market which is very tricky. but other than that: Bill has given away more than anyone else ever.

... liked that site, DJ Spooky interview was nice. great guy!

I'm still googling to find out what Steve Jobs is spending his billions on...
Your the first person I have ever seen write this about Bill gates and your right, its true. he doesnt boradcast it either which I find very admirable. For years he tried to keep it quite becasue undoubtedly he would get criticism for that. Hes in a no win situation.

I have no problem with Bill Gates and admire him for his success, but I admire him a lot more for still being grounded, and of course giving hundreds of millions to charity. .

Now, if only Gates would send a mil to the Retarded music charity. I promise I wil spend it wisely...

Drinks are on me Forever!!!

Bill gives away billions to charity. Bill's parents were the people behind him who taught him the generosity of charitible giving. He use to have 60 billion at one time compared to the amount he now owns.

Whatever about 95% ... if everyone gave 5% of their wealth to intelligent charities the world would be transformed. Pity that people still find a reason to bitch about someone giving away 95% AND putting their heart and soul into making sure it is effectively spent. Too much cynicism these days from the begrudgers..

Too true. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. There will always be some asshole waiting for Gates to make a move so they can disparage him and call him a criminal/jerk/mogul/etc.

It wouldn't matter if he ran into a burning building to save a baby. Someone would undoubtably say that he only did it to implant an intel chip in the kid and install Windows in its skull...

I would rather piss off a million crying Computos and save as many kids in Africa than not.

And as far as backing up my statements (all I said was I agreed you were an "obnoxious pompous fuckwit"), Computo, look up any of your posts. They all start and end in expletives. Regardless of the topic. Here's a typically eloquent Computo response:

I imagine you look a lot like Yosemite Sam when that pesky rabbit outsmarts him. All red faced and jumpimg up and down.... "OOOOOH I hate that Bill Gates! He untied my shoes, burned my toast and my neighbor's computer crashed !!! OOOOOH, I HATE THAT BILL GATES!"

Lighten up.
