Vancouver's definately got potential. We seem to get some pretty sweet parties and shows on occasion. If only some clubs would be a little more open to different types of dance music instead of ass clown suburban top 40.

I'm not in Berlin right now, but Pfefferberg used to be a nice place and still is I think. One of my friends performed there in july. Seems to still be alive. Check it out !

try the Lotus on Saturday, also Soldiers of the Underground have been doing some sundays at Celebrities and the Drink sometimes has good music (shit crowd though)

I'm from Amsterdam and no complaining here. This city has been straight into the house scene since day 1. And there is enough variety in styles around to keep everybody happy.

Before I moved to the shithole I live now, I had fuse around the corner. Lucky me

I live in South Florida about 45 minutes north of Miami and up in these parts there really seems to be NO SCENE what-so-ever. Granted, I'm mainly into beat-reconstruction, glitch, drum-n-bass and whatnot but still...

There's this tiny place up in Delray that used to have open mic/turntable nights and cats would come up with their laptops and controllers but they just stopped featuring those nights for some reason.

I used to live up the T Dot (Toronto) and man....talk about a scene! I miss that place.

orlando FL has a 'scene', has for a long time, at one time it was very thriving here as it was the launching pad for progressive in the US in the mid 90s

also florida had its breaks sound explostion for a long time, which is more or less over now, theres still some remnants of that but over the past couple of years its finally died out for the most part.

the producers clubs and DJs really milked that old cow far beyond what it was worth imo but its hard to fault them, people liked it so they kept doing it

tampa is still in that time warp apparently, but not here

for some reason a lot of well known touring DJs either are from here, have lived here, or have family and friends here so we get a lot of them coming thru here on the cheap, and they stay to hang out

the scene is small but very tight. quality house in all genres can be heard here almost every night of the week, but the clubs are pretty smalle. everybody knows everybody it seems ..

theres a certain amount of business that is done here, labels and producers that are pretty well known.

however techno in all forms is pretty much unknown here, people dont play it and the DJs never get booked ... conspicuously absent ...

Montreal is doing well for house - at least that's what I hear. Not much of a house man myself, but occasionally I go out and enjoy some 4/4 funk and shake my ass.

The minimal tech house thing is growing, the funky soulful stuff isn't keeping up as well.

The breaks scene is small, and elitist. Very difficult to break into, trust me.

I don't go out much in Montreal - I prefer non-smoking venues, and I don't think there are any in Montreal unfortunately.

ours is ok. all relative i s'pose.
I love it here, full of great talent and wonderful people. Very tight knit - which is full of pro's and con's - very easy to step on each others' feet, in terms of promotion, events, and being a dj/whatever.

but i still wish for more all the time. we have lame ass clubs like anyone else. we have few weeklies that rarely bring mroe than 50, and like 2 or 3 monthlys that are basically what we live for.

we have one promoter who throws events about once a month bringing all genres of big names, lastly SOS tour with oaky, hernan, and L. todd (and me opening up with me ableton.)


so far i am the only one doing ANYTHING different and playing out with it somewhat regularly in a club setting. (ABleton, duh.)

most cats here wouldnt even use an EFX500 or the filters on an A&H if u put it in front of em.

all u american cats lets do some trade-offs!

any promo materials i am glad to mail.

If guys really want something all new, and different...Just make it! Ableton Live does more than make interesting DJ sets, you know?

Video & lighting. Do it all in Live, if you want to stand out from every other swinging-dick DJ around and make some cash from your hobby...

Interesting--- Berlin has got a very huge, varied scene unlike anywhere else... the capital of electronica so to speak. Major artists are based there (Pole, Apparat, Jamie Lidell to name a few), and incredible labels (scape, bpitch, staubgold....), wonderful clubs (wmf, rosis, watergate, rio)....

So yeah, I come to Berlin quite often, if you'd like to meet, I'm up for it.

I have been here in Jacksonville, FL for about 4 years now. I got here right when the scene started to go downhill. House is definately the most popular music here as far as electronic music goes. Breaks definately had it's time but is for the most part over. The clubs here are small but the promoters work very hard to bring quality shows in as much as possible. I have to be honest though alot of the people here are at eachothers throats for so many different reasons that it's really hurting the scene right now. Probably the hardest thing here to do besides getting a DJ booking is staying positive and optimistic. The city is definately growing and going through alot of changes. There is even talk about raising the drinking cuttoff time from 2 to 4 a.m. on weekends and special events. Here we will just have to wait and see how things go but for now things will be kind of slow until things change.
