i have templates with finished songs, mixed down and everything, but i sell them and don't want to give away free ones.

i will however answer questions here for free.

the drum bus and bass bus should have 'audio from: no input' and 'audio to: master' they should also be set to monitoring 'in' status.

then every other track that has drums on it - 'audio to: drum bus' and every track that has bass 'audio to: bass bus' etc.

you set an fx send to 'pre' over on the right. each send knob has a global 'pre' vs. 'post' fader option over on the right. if you can see the knobs you will see it on the audio track 'master'

I could almost guarantee that if you posted a stripped down version with the bare minimum you'd get more sales. Users would get what it is, get hooked on it and want more.

This is a case to argue for another type of save in Live, one where people could use the .als but not modify or save it, I think Reason has a feature like that.

I'll trade you my juice box for a .als.

yea i'll think about it. i might do a dvd actually, but i have to finish my band album and get ready to move to san francisco first. i've started working on it though, so someday soon. when i get that done i'll post up a bunch of teaser .als jobbies for you guys.

In thinking of what you were trying to do, I came up with the following below....

I will compare sonically how things sound the way you describe, vs how things sound the way I describe

I believe I conceptually understand what is being described.

The idea is take crossfade between a phat track with no crazy fx applied to it (like stuttering etc), and another track that has crazy effects applied to it.

I just started running into a situation where when I crossfaded to the track playing the fx version, no sound would come out because the original audio....

UPDDATE.... I'll post a set soon, but I think I figured out a different way of doing what I wanted....

track #1
input track / "track with audio"
monitor off:
audio to: sends only

track #2
"dry" track
crossfade: a
monitor: in
audio from: "track with audio" (track #1 above)
audio to: master

track #3
"fx/wet track"
crossfade: b
monitor: in
audio from: "track with audio" (track #1 above)
audio to: master
add fx units as desired

(ie beat repeat interval 1/16, offset 0, grid 1/256, variation: 10, chance 100%, gate 4 bar, pitch 0 st, pitch delay 100%, volume 6.0 db, decay 0.00%)

The idea is you want to *quickly* crossfade between track 2 ("dry") and track 3 ("fxed" track) - hint put keyboard shortcuts on both sides of the crossfader, you can then dummy clip away on the fx track

Let me know how this works out for you guys or tips on how you would augment this setup above
