You people need to wake up that think this is good shit. They can push the white man because they are gullible so worried about their PC correct shit My people will not be so stupid and we couldnt give a fuck about PC correctnes so thats why in time we will take over and then we can all smoke again wherever we want

As I said, it's not about eroding a smoker's liberties. If that were the case, smoking would be made illegal. Smokers can go outside, smoke themselves stupid, and pay for private health care. And not think about what effect it has on those who care about them.

It's about protecting the rights of others who suffer from the thoughtlessness of smokers.

Banning smoking in public places won't stop smokers. Maybe your people aren't stupid, but mine certainly are.

And can you tell me why it's only "brainless people who think it's important to stop smoking?" Can you substantiate that with some medical facts?

that's what used to piss me off so much when they went on and on about "should the NHS not treat smokers and fat people, drinkers etc" and that kind of crap - the smoking and drinking tax contribution is HUGE so if that doesnt cover the cost then they just arent handling it right..but then it is the UK govt we're talking about here, the only solution they have to any problem at all is to charge people more money, not actually use the money properly....dont get me started.........

I see theres some guy going round glasgow, hanging ashtrays with advertising space on them on the outsides of the pubs..nice move!!

As far as getting people to quit, it won't work. I live in california/usa and we pioneered the so called "anti-smoking" laws and such. People don't quit, they just go outside.

But I'm glad to see progress. Although it's the really young people I see smoking the most...................

I live in Ireland and if the ban hadn't of come in here I'd still be smoking now.
I couldn't go to the pub and not smoke, the second I got a wiff of a smoke I'd be out the door to buy some.
So it worked for me personally anyhou.
But even if you ask smokers in Ireland now they'll tell you it was the right thing to do, even friends of mine who were against it when it came in (and who still smoke now) agree that it was the right thing to do.
This time next year you all will be wondering how the hell you managed to sit in pubs and clubs at all with all that smoke about the place.

not only that but going outside to smoke is a great way to meet people, I made loads of new friends through talking to people while out having a smoke, who I most likely wouldn't have met if I weren't forced out the door to smoke.
Having a load of people outside a club smoking provides great cover for people smoking dope too
