Sly And Robbie rules btw, all the black uhuru dub records are awesome, and Black Uhuru "Live" is one of my alltime favorite reggae albums, maybe except uprising and kaya.

By the way I never played with legos. Yep you guys win sample as much as you want. I just wont do it. I will TRY to respect the fact that it is art. I just hate to see people like P. Diddy sample peoples hard work and make millions off of it. By the way Lee Perry never used anybody elses music and call it his own. Except for publishing rights to some of Mr. Marleys originals, which he produced.
Dude if your rant is about the P. Diddy's of the world than I completely agree. He tends to rape samples as opposed to using them creatively. But even he has made some interesting contributions as a producer - some of his work with B.I.G. was good. Specifically the use of a sample from Screamin' Jay Hawkin's "I put a spell on you".

Anyway, if P.Diddy is using the sample than the original artist is getting paid money they would never have seen, plus getting additional exposure. Why do you think Sting was willing to hang onstage with him?

"Ey P, thanks for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ mate!"
