Apparently he knows how to move the way the kids like. I'm hoping that with his help and with a few "hits" that sound exactly like Ian Van Dahl, 4 Strings, and Aqua, I should be well on my way toward an underaged sex scandal.

I'll let y'all know when I actually make a good record and get started on my life of international producer extraordinaire.

Until then, I'll try to remind myself that I'm only as old as I think I am, and my music keeps me young at heart.

I don't know if making MED MODs on my Amiga counts. But I used to do that. Back in the early 90s.

I sometimes feel I'm having my "cool teens" in my 30's. Which is handy as I sure as shit was never a "cool teen". Music has been my living for 17 years.

I am very, very lucky and grateful to be doing this. Music keeps you young.

Last time I was in Stoke Newington was in the back of a police van after a gig with my band Brothel Charge. Ahh the 80's...and now I'm 40. Would I do it again now? Absolutely.

28 over here. I write my own music but I am not sure if I would call myself a producer.

If the bug catches you at any age, you can never have enough experience to work in this medium.

I am sort of glad I got into this later in life. Not only could I have burnt myself out, but I never would have been able to afford all the gear I needed. Instead I waited until Live was made. Now I'm just filling in some of the blanks.

I think it might be easier for me than anyone without any musical knowledge, but sometimes I feeling like my efforts to use Live like an instrument are a distraction.

The real thing you need is discipline and passion. Age benefits these IMO.

I started at 24, and it hasn't been bad at all. You'll find with most anything that you pick up as a hobby/for fun can be more entertaining than learning/applying it at school. You get all the freedom in the world to learn what interests you and not what you are told to learn.

As with many fields of study, there are plenty of places to go, and to truly master something you'll need to spend 20 years. If anything I would suggest you should think of starting at 28 as more of an advantage. Hopefully at this point in your life you don't have out of control hormones... you've got stability in your life... perhaps you've learned some patience, focus and good study habits.

Don't let all the 'kids' with their mad skillz turn you off. You can pick pretty much any discipline in music production and within a few weeks you'll likely know things that most musicians do not.

Oh boy - this thread made me laugh. I was 51 a few weeks ago and I've been making computer based music for a whole 6 months........!!!!

I've always been interested in it but only got a rudimentary entry level set up lately.

Took a huge leap in the dark by buying a BCF2000 controller last weekend and boy is it giving me a sore head.............haven't actually managed to get it to control anything yet.........................but I'll get there!!!!!

Well I'm 48 years of age and have been at this electronica music stuff for the last couple of years. I love it. I never think of age as being a factor in making or listening to music. To me its a universal thing with no boundaries.
