Being able to automate the timings + user shapes is also a brilliant idea!

Well the timing should be period... and the parameter would probably go up very high. To draw you would need something like a wavetable, but I'm not sure how easy that would be to code... neat though.
I'd personally love to sync the period (phase too) to rythm... actually everything that could, should be synceable to rythm.
Good stuff! It's been around for a while, I think your pic represents greatly the idea. A really neat midi effect. +101

What usually bugs me when I have a midi LFO inserted is that the "undo"-command is rendered useless, because every midi single midi signal enters the "undo-chain". Thats an issue that would need to be adressed.
