another thing that worries me is that I have an 1820m soundcard and i'm concered that once I plug the uad into a spare pci slot that one or the other won't work properly.

Only one way to find out. :D

From experience the DSP PCI slot will not affect your sound card.

I used a UAD and 1820m with NO issues at all. PCI conflicts are more rare than Firewire, USB, etc.

New products from UAD it seems just around the corner.
That's just what I've been waiting to hear, thanks Mike for the info.

I've been correspondence with Universal Audio (this month) and was told that there are no imminent plans for a Firewire version, though it is something they are considering for the future. I suspect the new product is the forthcoming Neve plugin.

As such I bought my second UAD-1 this week. They're great!

I agree, it's the Neve, and POSSIBLY a PCIe announcement.

this thread has me on the edge of picking up a second UAD card and trading in my powercore. All I ever use it for is the one old skool reverb and the EQ, who knows that could be worth the 400 ill get for it. Ahhh Gear lust is a nasty thing.

Does the "old" UAD card not run on any of the new G5s?
