wish I would have seen that before I bought it :( no wonder it was so cheap!

So I bought the Akai s950...

...got it home, cleaned it up[...

And it bloody works! First time... YumYum.

Well, I haven't tried sampling yet (need a few more cables...) but the disks work and I can play it into my host no problem!.

Would be grateful for any setup tips and tricks..

heh...forget about tips & tricks for now, in the context of this thread lets hear some lo-fi oneshots man! ... any chance you could host an mp3 with some wet/dry examples of the s950 in action ? ...like the original wav, and the wav-post-lo-fidelity-stylee-s950

I'm really curious to hear, well some of us are I bet

I also heard the s950 has a neat timestretching/slicing effect ... supposed to sound pretty kool...

I'll certainly try and get this set up... I need to work out how to sample first!

I'll then post some vinyl drum hits sampled through the s950, and some straight into live/audacity...

The whole timestretching thing awaits... Luckily it came with the original manual....

I paid £150. Apparently it's 'fully expanded' which means that it's got a MASSIVE 2.5 mb memory.... old school indeed.

It's in excellent condition and came with original boot disk, 3 sound disks and the original manual and Akai/Turnkey documentation (long since expired).

So far all works perfectly and the lcd is in great shape (often a problem).

I'm pretty happy. I tried to beat him down to £100... but no luck. He knew he could sell it.

It's bloody large though, and I'm going to have to persuade my wife that she's delusional when she sees it...

"no dear, it's not really there,.come and lie down, I think you're ill..."
