Monolake really uses Cubase for live sets? With or without Live as a rewired slave?

Thats the reason why NOBODY with a professional approach would seriously try to make music with LIVE.

Yes I suppose alot of people would throw their arms up in the air in submission & take the easy road.I personally think Live is too good to ignore even with it's rather obvious faults. In your sage opinion, what (if not Live) would a professional "Try to make music With"? I imagine the the answer is rather predictable. Another question might be that, if you have so little faith in Live-why are you wasting your time on this site :?:

FOR THE RECORD

for the record;
i use live to create original, meaningful music
for a living. and, i'm not a DJ. and i don't record MIDI.

LIVE is a young program, like DP. CUBASE and LOGIC were.
can you imagine what it'll offer 5 years from now?

people need to stop comparing live to other programs
it is what it is. (you can't compare apples to oranges, blah blah blah)

ok i'm done now.

yesyes... you are right: it's cubasis

now seriously: the reason why i wrote the proffffessional and the monolake/cubase post was not to poison this threat. I'm making electronic music since over 15 years and the most important reason why I'm still spending time on this activity is and was always FUN.

Some things I've done were succesfull others not. But I think, if something goes wrong you just can learn of this mistakes if you face yourself. I know, I know we're humans, not perfect and even it's completely ridiculous it might be helpfull to think for a second "oh man, it's the software-company's fault that I'm not succesfull". But there is a difference if you just think it or if you post an agressiv and complete redundant article who everybody have to read and to see (eviloticons) because it's in a update-threat. As I said: For me music should make FUN. I don't want read articles of frustrated people.

So... now I have to stop and I want to say that I like this forum very much. There is a good spirit and sometimes very interesting debates 8)

For anyone who wants to add MIDI to ReWire in OS X, it's easy to do with MIDI Pipe.
I wrote a little tutorial on how to do this, with Live and Logic, in the comments under the Live2 review on: OSXAudio.com

[This is for Logic and Live, where there is a special consideration because Logic receives MIDI on all channels/ports, all the time. If your ReWire master app can set a specific input port, and not receive the others, it will be much easier, as there will be no need to block the virtual midi port, that the app is sending to Live on.]
Because of CoreMIDI's low latency, this combo works quite well, [unlike using OMS in OS9 which just plain suxx.]

Happy with the Beta!

I, for one, am very happy with this Beta version and look forward to the final release. I am using it in OS X with Logic to score 3 to 5 minute cartoons at the moment and it works flawlessly. Yes there are screen redraw issues on my older Macs and yes the performance is sluggish but the mac is a 500MHz G4. If I had a dual I'm sure it would be better. But I can use it in a professional environment and make music. This is a young app that I would have loved to have had 10 years ago. It makes music making fun again. When Panther is released at the end of the year and OS X gets more efficient, it's going to kick some serious butt.
Keep up the great work Ableton. :D The big 4 apps for OS X Pro Tools, Logic 6, Reason 2.5 and Live 2! 8)
Cheers,
Jamie

E.g. Monolake: As far as I know he uses LIVE just as a text-editor because its more stable than MS-Word and as a second Finder because one can browse very quickly through folders. And when it comes to a Live-Act he takes he's Laptop with Cubase on it and a handfull of vst-plugs...
c    l
then don't use live and don't crowd up this message board with your silly little posts. just go away and leave live to some of these "amatures":

Akufen
Andreas Kauffelt
Animals on Wheels
Arovane
Billy Bush
Carmen Rizzo
Charlie Clouser
Chicks on Speed
Deadbeat
Funkstörung
Future Loop Foundation
Garron Chang
Heiko Laux
Herrmann und Kleine
DJ Highfish
Jan Jelinek
KC Porter
King Crimson
Kirk Degiorgio
Klaus Badelt
Laub
Lol Tolhurst
Modeselektor
Mogwai
Move D
Paul Kalkbrenner
Petter Wiik
Scion
Styrofoam
Taylor Deupree
The Rip Off Artist
Timlin

for all those folks who say they won't buy live until this one little feature is implemented, keep in mind that the more live units sold = more money for ableton = more resources for development of features.

ableton, y'all kick ass.

Just kidding.

PT HD+ Logic Front end + ESB Bridge

Logic 6.1
OS 9
Live Beta

Works far better than it did in 5. Rarely a glitch.

Same setup as above except in OSX.
PT6
Logic 6.1
Live Beta

As of yet not functioning but I suspect this is something more to do with the abscence of Direct Connect not being implemented by Digi on OSX. I think I need to check with Emagic over the replacement of ESB/Direct Connect for OSX. Slighly worrying actually because if there is no longer an ESB replacement in OSX it would mean I couldnt rewire to Logic............But with PT´s rewire implementation coming any day now I might be able to rewire to that?. Of course I could very well be missing something?

Just thought you should know Abletons. Looks like your new version is very stable 8)
