Not only being a huge demand for devs right now (not just Ableton ) ,but also being very competitive (have you seen Five12 numerology

But instead of this being a plugin it should be a view choice in the midi editor view :
Piano roll (command s1) ; default view
Step (command s2) ; x0x0x view -808 ,909, 303 etc. (with accent and slide ! )
CV (command s3) ; knobs and sliders -monophonic only
Nortron (command s4) ; dspaudio Norton seq view
