I realize this is an older thread, but I stumbled across it earlier today while surfing the forums. I just spent a few minutes trying out this trick and I must say I am impressed. It gives my bass way more presence in the high-end and, thus, makes it sound much fuller. Sending me kick drum to the same return channel gives the kick a lot more 'snap'/'knock' in the high-end.

I do it using just the overdrive effect usually with a compressor. Sounds a little different but seems to be pretty much the same thing...

Is there anyone who can explain why the bass is somehow tighter too when routing it over a return track?


Got it. Was just louder and therefor more compressed because i had some dry signal...
