I do not equate a piss poor safety net for the poor with racism. That there are more blacks in prison than should be represented by the percentage of population is indicative of the class war here more accurately than it is the race war.... blacks as a whole make up a larger percentage of the lower class than the 12-13% they are of the general population....

I'm not saying that there isn't racism, just that it's not necessarily valid arguing that the US is more racist based solely on prison statistics....

Why stop at Berkely? There are plenty of gay that are perseceuted, women that are victimized, and thinly vieled racsim to this day throughout the country. I totally agree. Have you ever taken a standardized test? It doesn't take much to fall into the .01% that can actually think autonomously enough to make a change. It's how the real world operates.

BTW, I probably despise "Americans" more than most people from other nations, simply because of what they have done with this country, but it is bad when americans who do have the capacity for autonomus decision making perpetuate negative generalizations about themselves on international forums. That's all I am concerned with here. THought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

I believe in Humans rights, easy

however when it comes to the quest for equality I don't like to be lumped in with gays and women, being a black person.

It's far to easy for a gay person to pass for straight or a woman to show a little tit and ass to get her way

Blacks and Mexicans can't change the color of their skin no matter how much ass and titty they show

I do believe two married gay people should have the same rights as straight people - if your partner is in the hospital you have every right to know what's going on, you are family - that is your family

I believe in that stuff, for real - I just don't want to be lumped into the whole "I'm different I need special treatment" group

Stinky and Djadonis- your both right. I am lumping al kinds of things together. In my logic so many of the distinct segregating aspects are defined by hate so I often interchange them erringly. Combine that with a lack of sleep because I've been studying German (the nation that I "do not hold CURRENTLY responsible" for killing off an entire half of my lineage, as a russian/austrian/german-jew) nonstop, I am making no sense to myself.

I felt I had to open my mouth though, because Americans should be trying to make changes instead of just dissing america.

What else should americans be doing right now? I should apologize, perhaps, and take that nap now!

Yo dawg, I wasn't even trying to direct my last at you (or respond to you) it's a issue I have in general and wanted to get it out there - the good ole American way

I'm pretty open to the world and all that's in it - good and bad

But we do need to accept the fact we are all different...we come from different backgrounds, races, religions etc etc

It's hard to classify all minorites as one group just because they are in the minorty and I hate it when the Gays try to clamp onto the civil rights movement...I don't hate gays I just don't like the way they're trying to equate their struggle with the struggle of say my aunts and uncles

I believe a gay person, couple and child is entitled to everything a straight person is entitled to, that includes Adoptions, Abortions, Marriage and all that that the marriage titled brings so...

I don't understand homosexuality but who cares, it's not for me to understand or even tolerate - but I must accept them as human beings and the fact they need to be treated as equals

but my point was it's alot easier for a gay person to "Appear" straight then it is for a black, mexican, asian or middle eastern person to

sure america was great and blah blah blah blah. but was is the key word. america should be called new america cause it is not the democracy that was founded so many years ago. and if you believe it is your head is up your arse. corporate big money now runs the show and has more influence than we the people. whos fault is that??? ours. each and everyone of us for sitting back and letting it slowly happen through the last 100 years. we need to kick the republocrats out and start up a government with some real light to it, not with two criminal parties, kinda like the one that kicked of over 200 years ago.

what will it take to wake people up in this now pathetic country of ours?

katrina should have but didn't. is it going to take something far worse?
