Warping/autowarping while keeping the original track's tempo intact. How difficult can it be?

Well spoken. I am glad that you brought this up.

Sometimes I think the Abes assume we all just do "bangin' choonz"!

There ARE tracks with variable tempos. Warping while retaining the original tempo with a self-generated tempo map will be fantastic. Accompanying audio (and video and lighting!) will stay in sync.

I agree - i actually tried to DJ a track of mine in which there was a bar when it slowed right down to 60 bpm then back and it was an absolute nightmare - I actually ended up doing a new render where i took out the slow down effect - but it was a good effect

Is it still up to us to decide where the tempo changes are, while still unwarped, and to consolidate these pieces into individual sections before warping?

This is what I usually do, as it seems to come up with a more accurate analyisis, rather than averaging, guesstimating or whatever it is that the autowarp algorithm(s) does.

I understand that you have a considerable number of warped tracks. I would be very interested in how you deal with these little details.

Live is way behind in this kind of function - Shockwave demo

Hi all - as DJ's are mentioned in terms of Live 6 and future, in the first post of this thread, I would like to addin this post.

This is the kind of expanded arrangement view functionailty I, and others, am looking for in Live 6. You can see DJ Andre from mixingonbeat.com test driving the new Fusion product

DJ Andre wrote that he had never heard the tracks before, and no 'warping' has been done except the standard analysis by Fusion. And the product has only been out for a couple of days. So this is straight out of the box so to speak.

Live is way behind on this kind of functionality. It will probably be a bit oversized in your browser.

Well, "as long as they are dance songs they should be" just as accurate, no doubt, in live.

THANK-YOU. I thought it was just me!

From the Ableton newsletter:

"On Friday, July 14, at 10:30AM, Ableton will hold a special press conference. Please come by and see what's in store for the future of Live!"

I assume that's 10:30 am Texas Time.

Looks pretty cool, but you're sorely mistaken if you think that Fusion and Live are in the same arena. Live is a DAW, not another Traktor wannabee. If you choose to only DJ with Live you can work with a lot more than 'Dance music' and not have to deal with phrases like "should be just as accurate." DJs use Fusion, DJs and musicians use Live.

Go find a trial version of Live and see what real men use to create, produce and DJ their beats.

:P Come 'round here talkin that trash... sheesh!!

Hi DeadlyKungFu,

From your name, it sounds like I shouldn't mess with you !!

I can use Live to a reasonable level - you can hear my latest mix done on Live here:

http://www.domain-hostess.co.uk/users/m ... -(320).wma

Just, I would like to see considerable improvements in Lives arrangement view. I personally think it is nowhere near where it needs to be at present - and pretty much all the functionality dissaapears when in 'live' mode.

Mixmeister, in my opinion, doesnt have the sound quality that Live has, but it is way ahead on the 'arrangement' view front.

best,
Simon

So you prefer DJing in Arrange view, not Session view?

Meh, don't let the name or high post count fool you, I'm just another dork on the internet.

That's cool that you do use Live, my post was mainly a troll, a Monday morning vent, but damnit, you're an all too reasonable and nice guy!!

i would be happy with a better sound while rendering,
and a working dual core support, some effect like beat repeat,
or a random generator would also be fine...
