ebay - have you been ripped off before ?
I listed a gold seiko watch on eBay awhile back, the highest bidder wanted me to send him the watch first, and that he would pay me a week later since he was broke. I refused, so he gave me a negative feedback, I was pissed...nothing I could about it. Other than that I have many transaction with no problems at all. I will only use paypal. For me its a great way to shop since I live in a small community in northern Ontario where audio equipment is not available.

I got a quasimidi polymorph. sounds yummy yummy, cold & distant, nice for industrial stuff. its got a 4 track sequencer, its 4 part multi-timbral , but you can have each track running backwards, fowards, random, different time signatures, you can use 3 of the 4 tracks for sequencing most of the synth's parameters....kind of like the machinedrum's parameter lock system (in theory...I havent gotten into the sequencer yet, gotta order an english manual from novamusic.com or find one online...or plague gomez80, a german guy who owns one, for how-to's) ....and you can have a step from one track launch another sequence on another track....well you get the picture...Angstrom wrote:what synth is it, did you mention already?
it sounds weird...like distant. sounds ace through a spring reverb...and if you like ellen allien you should check out 'send' , I've known and loved this track for ages and after I had been reading about the polymorph for a while I found out this track is mostly polymorph. what had grabbed my interest at first was the sequencer, it was a big motivational push that I already knew and really liked the sound and often wondered how to achieve similar textures. kind of reminds me of the days I used to listen to plastikman or squarepusher and was drooling over all those 303 basslines & melodies not knowing how they were making them.
oh and klaus schulze had a part in its design, he hasn't let me down yet...

Yep. Tip of the day: On ebay, "untested" = "busted".b0unce wrote:.
ok then, we've all learned from that.
Personally, I've had very few problems with either ebay or paypal. I run my entire business through paypal, and (so far) nothing terrible has happened, and their customer support has been good.
As for ebay, I've sold and bought a number of large items over the years with it, most notably a 2,000$ router and my old car. I've noticed that the more money is involved, the more trustworthy people tend to be, unless it's an obvious scam.
I sold my Roland VS-880EX on ebay several years ago...I was only looking to get $800 for it, but some guy from Jakarta offered $2000 for it! I thought it was surely a mistake so I sent several emails making sure he understood I would take $800 for it, but he was adamant about wanting to be sure he secured the gear and was willing to pay extra for the security and my troubles. I thought it was pretty weird but counted myself lucky to have some extra monet coming in as I was pretty broke at the time.
So I ran the credit card he gave me at the place I was working (I worked out a deal with the owner so that he gave me cash once the transaction cleared.) and shipped the VS-880EX. A few months later I was on the ebay forums and saw a post about credit card fraud from Indonesia, and saw emails that were exactly like the ones I was getting from that guy.
So basically, he used a stolen/fraudulent card to buy the gear, which is why he didn't care about the cost. I spent the next year in fear of having to pay back the money, or worse, but nothing ever came of it. Looking back it seems obvious to me that it was a scam, but at the time I was just naive. I guess I got lucky on that one...
