anyway combined with your good words about it and the amazingly flattering review I clicked on "add album" - I'm up for some new kind of inspiration like that - I can really relate to the getting back into songs/songwriting thing

And Beck is one of those people I feel I have neglected, because I LOVED his first album when it came out - and since have always been interested but never actually got around to checking any of his stuff out - and he seems to have done loads

any of his other albums really worth a listen?

nah you'd want them - you would not play them for a while, then you'd remember you had them and be glad you remembered - the fact that you hate the repetition means you wouldnt do it too often

I think John was right about the reasons why - but then you'd just hollow out a log or something and find ways to make music

I seem to have this very conversation every week. Never an easy answer...

In their order of the ability to destroy my soul and rebuild me.

1. Endtroducing - DJ Shadow. (I love how this is the most repeated on this thread.) The epitome of everything I wish I could do with my music. Inovate, inspire, and change perspectives.

2. Aenema - Tool. Maynard says what I really wish I had the balls to, and Jones' guitar work echoes Maynard.

3. OK Computer - Radiohead. An abosolute masterwork from beginning to end. I am listening to Radiodread right now and it reitterates Radioheads' genious. (Radiodread my the Easy Star All-Stars is a song-by-song rework in dub and reggae of OK Computer. Really Amazing. It is like hearing the CD for the first time way back when.)

4. Grace - Jeff Buckley. This CD feels too good to be forgotten

5. This space changes minute by minute. I have a constantly changing 5th favorite... right now it's The Stills - Logic will Break Your Heart. In an Hour it will be something else.
