This would also solve the whole selling off bits and pieces problem for Ableton as their "extra tools" only work in Live anyway.

Then people would be whining that they're paying for features they don't need. Some people would complain if you hung 'em with a new rope...

whatever whatever whatever ...

Just keep the damn Operator, why sell it in the first place ? You paid money to something you first liked (one can spend lots of time trying out the 'locked' version) and now in for a trade to Sampler ? Purchase and keep them both, even if you're low on money you still can 'wait' if it's needed for your personal life. If you're into music with Ableton and like the f*ck out of the program you just keep what you've purchased. And this has got nothing to do with Robert himself so show a little respect to the Ableton guys and just keep the damn Operator. You could write a whole album just with Live right out of the box !

I know this doesn't makes sense to selling or purchasing 'goods' from and to another user but even I understand that it's a no do and I'm stupid as f*ck. I don't see myself going to a carshop and telling them to please change the color of my not used car from black to white for free cause I got someone who wants to buy it for cheaper then another white one in your store. Ok, this is software but it's still a company.

I'm disturbed cause I got myself a new girlfriend since half a day :?

Ok, at my icecream store, I don't charge everyone for nuts on their hot fudge sundae. I charge extra to those who want nuts on their sundae, and inevitably once a week I get the same shit. "Nuts and whip cream shouln't be extra, they should just be included in the price." Well, alright so everyone will have to pay $3.35 for their sundae instead of those who want the nuts and whip cream. Currently those who don't want the nuts and whip cream pay $2.35. What's fair? I see no reason to charge everyone for the nuts. And if they buy the nuts, I certainly hope they won't resell them to another costomer, but I guess if they do that's their business.

......and if you see the poll results, it {sadly} pretty much says just that for 1/2 the pollsters.

well...do these same folks feel cheated that the MIDI & AUDIO EFFECTS are included in Live and that they don't use them (for whatever they paid for Live)??

At least I would hope Ableton clearly states their transfer policy on the Operator website as for some folks, like Johnny...they have no desire to purchase a product that they may want to sell later on.

ha! ha!...well UDP...that's totally understandable, but you're missing one point......I can buy the ice cream, but want the nuts in a sack to eat later or put them in a pie or cookies the wife is making - there's multiple uses for those nuts you sell. The problem with Operator is it is good nowhere else....only LIVE, so yep....go ahead and charge away your nuts!

Too bad you can't sell it. I'd never buy it at $149 most likely, but a used copy at a cheaper price would certainly have my interest.

Pardon me, but Ableton is a company, not a person. Who wrote you what?
It is very unlikely that you got an email from Gerhard Behles or Bernd Roggendorf regarding this issue and I know that I did not send you a mail. So, before starting such a thead, please be more precise.

Thank you,
Robert Henke / Ableton

First off, you're not going to get John to change his mind by swearing at him.

Not true. He can sell his Live + Operator.

Reagarding ice cream, I'll write this a 3rd time, one should buy gear with the resale value in mind. Once you've been making beats for a few years this becomes obvious. Ice cream doesn't fit the model.

No big deal, just bummed. If I bought Operator from Ableton it would be letting them win. I know I can resell NI gear, I've had Komplete on my list for a while.

This is a strike against Sampler too.

Hey Robert,

I don't think he meant he got an email from you directly or anyone a Ableton. (EDIT: I believe he was referring to Ableton as a whole as 'the man')

In english we call the powers that be "the man" if person or figure of authority dominates or opresses you. There is an expressions 'sticking it the man' means standing up for yourself.

Hello,

I am sorry, but selling Operator separately is not possible, since it
belongs to the Live license (it is not a separate license). This license
may only be transferred as a whole, including serial numbers of all
versions and Operator.

Please let us know if you would like to arrange this, we will provide
you with all necessary information then.

Best regards,

Robert

this is the email that was sent to me today.maybe there is another robert that works for ableton.if that is the case i apologize mr henke.
