my only critique would be that in general the filters are pretty weak..
cut-off is more like a friendly stroke than scraping the sound appart with your nails..

once I fully wrapped my head around that - Reasons taken on a whole new meaning

I wouldn't rely on a Reason preset to sound good

Most of synth, bass and lead sounds I use come from Reason - you can listen to some older stuff I did with Reason in my signature if you're interested

I did songs 100% in reason and some ppl didn't even believe it was reason only..
reason is as good as your talent..

one reason why some ppl having a bad mouth about reason is because they are lazy..
we're all used to use all these insane vst's that can produce entire tunes by hitting one key..
reason reminds you that you have to work for great sounds.. it doesn't come easy..
and the reason devices really reflect that thought; no beat repeat, no time stretching, no supatrigga's, no nothing..
you gotta work..

sooooo when rewiring reason and live you'd either have to bounce your tracks into audio into live or you'll have to remember which reason set to call up next time?

What i have done is just, set up a sort of "default" rack for ableton so when i open up reason i load up that default rack.

mostly for me i use ReDrum rewired into ableton as i just cant seem to force myself to like impulse.

I suppose, you could bounce the ReDrum ( or any reason insturment ) down to a midipart, and open THAT up in ableton ....

say for instance i get a banging drumtrack going, I just save that as a midi part, then open up impulse and load up a kit similar, ( or for those of us who LOVE torturing ourselves ) bounce each redrum instrument to a wav and load those into impulse.

But yeah, thats the way i do it, i have yet to try to rewire 2 instruments or even a synth from reason into ableton.....

In Live 6 can't you send midi back into LIVE? Or is that for when Live is in slave mode?

I just had a crazy thought about the Pattern Sequencer firing LIVE or VST instruments

In REASON the Pattern Sequencer is cool

the Matrix sequencer is really cool..
if you set length to 1 and draw in a tied note you will have an continuous sustain..
then conected to the malstrom with all it's modulation options you can make yourself infinite soundscapedronesgalore..

reason's sequencer is a BIG reason why i dont like reason. It seems very cryptic and hard to use.

on the other hand, i dont really care for abletons "draw" tool interface either...

i guess i can never win.

....well, the only thing i dont like about abletons draw tool, is there is no way to click and drag a note to lengthen it, without going out of the draw mode ( via ctrl + b ) and then stretching the note, then going back into draw mode; lather rinse repeat.

then again, since im straight up software only at this point, maybe that will change with the purchase of my keyboard.....

you don't have to use the pencil to draw notes in, just double click where you want a note

but, a true Jedi trusts his Control B and will master the Control B - Control B I have, hmm.

yeh, control-b can be pretty sweet ive gotten into using ctrl - b in more of a live "mixing" kind of set up.....

and it makes me feel more like im "in the mix" in that regards, and it has made me thought, perhaps this is why they did the ctrl -b option??

but its not anything i have really gotten THAT upset with ( unlike reason's sequencer ) its just i get really into it, and then when click and drag to place a note doesnt work its like "OH CRAP ... "

On the topic of clip envelopes...how come I only see "Volume" and "Transpose" options for my clips...aren't there others like "Pitch" etc?...could've sworn I've seen other envelopes referenced before

Transpose *is* pitch. If you load a Pitch midi plugin you can automate that, sure. My guess is that you don't have any plugins on the track? It's just plain audio perhaps?
