If I were to guess I think this is only one of a handful of things that will ultimately surface for the props. I think what they did was kinda clever though. People have been bitching for a new synth for reason, but which would it be? FM, Wavetable, another subtractive? So they give you all of the above as a semi-modular to shut everyone up (you can see they have FM in the video)

I see what you guys are saying about the "virtual analog" modules being overused or whatnot, but the cool thing is that since they now have the modular framework in place, they should be able to just build new modules to add to the collection.

I see this is a jumping point for Thor.

exactly. i just can't be arsed. i don't see why they insist on making their software look like hardware, especially when it's hardware that never existed, and then they want to needlessly convolute it by having all those arrows and shit all over it? why?

the ableton GUI was what got me into Live in the first place. have you looked at subtractor recently? then compare it to the automat GUI, or one of the new NI synths or operator. that's a proper GUI. still, Malstrom was cool. shame it's reason-only, it would have been cooler if Magnus (is that his name?) kept the idea and released it as a soniccharge product alongside microtonic. nevermind.

well yeah - how bizarre is the concept of a sampler made to look like a sampler, yet it doesn't actually sample!?

totally agree - I love microtonic and maelstrom was always the best thing about reason - I used to like scream, but it used to infuriate me that I couldnt use it on audio outside reason (same as the maelstrom filters) and saturator eats it alive

just a bit more bizar as a Sampler that doesn't look like a sampler and doesn't sample either..

Someone made a comment about everyone raving on this new "thing" from Propellerhead so I went and checked out the forum chatter.

It totally makes me laugh how SO much discussion and comment can come from basically a screenshot and a few demo songs!...nobody has used a demo of the software or anything else and yet all these conclusions are being drawn based upon a simple screenshot of something that may or may not exist (or ever be released), that nobody has tried out.

It's like someone at Ableton creating a Photoshop screenshot of Live with some sort of slicer tool and everybody saying "This Is Awesome!"

anyway, i never liked reason.

I like Reason myself. It's proven to be one of the most efficient soft synths I've used with Live.

And it's been easy enough to link with rewire.

I'd like to see better programability for Reason. A notation view would be nice. And a better drum machine.

I won't, however, pay $199 for another synth and some visual stuff. (Particularly if they have not developed a full screen view.)

I still use Reason 3, tho' rewired almost exclusively. Still love the MIDI editor on another monitor, but hate the half screen maximise.

Give me Reason's MIDI editing pane in Live, and Live's full screen in Reason, and dual-monitor support in Live and they'll need to bury me in a coffin with a sunroof
