i'm about to get serious with live performance and i want to view both the waveform AND the effects of a clip.

What is with all the people that are against this????
No one is asking for the current single screen layout to disappear. It works well in some situations and even those of us with dual displays want to keep it for when you're playing out.
But something has to be done to add support for additional displays. An option to un-dock a section would be good so you could drag them to the other display and leave them floating. Even better would be some kind of views system, where you can have a second display and then drag sections to it and have them dock - though you'd need to be able to re-size them as you wish.
Whatever the solution is, it needs to be done asap as having to work on a single display is a complete and utter pain in the arse at the moment.
