good mouse for a Mac?
i have a marble mouse. it worked for a year then started getting buggy, then stopped working. i had to delete the drivers, because it was screwing up my trackpad.
i switched mine for the same one at work, and it functions, but i can't program it, because i have no drivers! my "broken" one works just fine at work (on a PC). strange.

But how was it when it worked?nowtime wrote:i have a marble mouse. it worked for a year then started getting buggy, then stopped working. i had to delete the drivers, because it was screwing up my trackpad.

My vote is trackball too.
Current one is a Logitech Trackman Wheel:

I started using on in a friends Studio and thought it was great.
Where I have my set up right now I don't have room to move a mouse around. It's also great in cramped Live situations (when I set up on a up ended Flight case) & Mac is normally too far away to reach comfortably over my controller so the trackpad is out & trying to run a wheel or laser mouse isn't any good.
I am also a huge fan of the Microsoft Explorer mouse, I've nearly everyone of these that they have brought out, perfect fit for my hand. Therefore reducing strain.

i just switched from a logitec marble trackball. it was great untill i started bouncing the ball around my room and it got a ding in it. then i almost went nuts trying to use it....the little white knobs inside kept getting hung on teh ding. so i went out and put this fine peice of alien architecture on my credit card!!!

ITS CRAZY!!! it's got like 20 buttons and you cna program each one to have a different keystroke (letter + modifier key), advance click (key modified click). and you can have a differnt set of button presest for EVERY APPLICATION. it's like i have all these little knomes pushing buttons for me now. if only i could have a program to have a mouse button send a midi message or assigned letter signal!

Say what you want, I have no problem right clicking or using my mighty mouse in either osx or windows xp. It's a bluetooth mouse, and it doesn't need drivers in xp. I've set it up on several macbooks, countless times between several windows installations, and they all work the same. The nub actually feels pretty cool, and works like you would expect any scroll to. It's lightweight and I can slip it into my pocket. Maybe you haven't spent enough time with one, beyond the mac store, to know what it's like in daily usage.Machinate wrote:I am sorry, I think apple mice plain SUCK. Both on osx and on xp systems.
And saying that the Mighty Mouse has a right click option is not the same as a physical button. There IS a difference.
For what it's worth - very little, I know - I am addicted to the Logitech MX series of mice, my most recent one being an Mx518. Wonderful piece of equipment. Not as pretty as a Mighty Mouse, but a damned sight more functional.
hey... i want a mouse for my macbook. it dont need to be wireless, just need to have a mouse that is far enough away from my macbook so i can control scrolling through effects and tracks quickly, horizontally and vertically. i also want programmable buttons...
it didnt look like the logitech mx worked with horizontal scrolling..am i wrong?

I can't believe nobody has mentioned microsoft. Say what you will about their software, but they make the best damn mice and keyboards on the market. I've been a loyal microsoft natural user for years, and not only are their peripherals high quality, but they are also fully mac-supported, and microsoft provides mac utility drivers for extra functionality (for mapping hot-keys, etc).
Horizonal scrolling is nothing more then "holding shift" while you scroll..rat wrote:hey... i want a mouse for my macbook. it dont need to be wireless, just need to have a mouse that is far enough away from my macbook so i can control scrolling through effects and tracks quickly, horizontally and vertically. i also want programmable buttons...

The MX with multiple buttons can do that.
