I heard that with regard to the G2X but haven't hard any explanation with regard to the NL3. You?
What I heard was that the encoder rings were custom made which are used on both NL3 and G2 and apparantly the company who made them went out of business, and they can't get them made at around the same price anywhere... I don't know if it's true, but that's what I was told. I think that the Stage has the same encoder rings though, so like I said it's just a rumor and hasn't been confirmed by anyone yet.

the red color is clavia´s trademark
you can always recognize one of them even on stage full of other synths, dunno if they will ever let it go
i can even bet some people are buying cme controllers just for a bit of clavia pose...

Red's better than boring old black, or Triton silver (equally boring)
