well, spamming is actually "udderly" illegal, but the reality of the situation is that it can be hard to track down forum spammers.

So in other words: you CAN sue, and you would win... if you have the resources to track them down. So no, it's not absurd, it's more of a practical impossibility, really.
Yep. I don't think anyone's ever been sued for spamming a forum. It would cost so much to bring it to court and then you'd probably have to prove damages. What are the real damages? Oh yeah.... it pisses off dj donnyman. I guess he's going to pay for the court costs. Hell hath no fury like a donnyman scorned!

That's why you don't act like a stupid cunt and create spam to complain about spam, stupid cunt.

Now that I know your name, I'll look you up and explain it to you in person, stupid cunt.

Do you know what you should change your login to?

I'm feeling your anger, have you considered anger management?
Did you know that stress releases harmful chemicals into the body?

You can get counseling for it you know.

The anger I mean.

Chin up old boy, life is too short to be getting yourself all wound up.

Have you heard of the law of attraction?

p.s, do you know any other words apart from "stupid cunt"

the problem I see with trying to sue someone for spamming lays within the definition of spam itself. some dude posts a link to some viagra which we call spam but trying to prove in court that that is different than me posting a link to a youtube I think is funny would be rather hard. all the spammer has to do is say "I thought someone might be interested, you see people posting links there all the time about tv and youtube and music, I just thought some of them might want some viagra" which is kinda absurd but trying to prove that there is a solid difference would be rather difficult.
that and spending money in court just to get rid of a spammer would be a seriously retarded use of money. unless the spammer was posting spam like every 10 minutes and effecting your business to a great degree.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

You don't need to click on a link to know what the likely content is.
That was the whole point of my post. You can recognize a thread as spam and just pass over it. Do spammers offend you that much... really!? Do their posts slow your computer down or something? I just don't understand why its such a big deal.

Yes i see where your coming from, and for sure the spam situation isn't a huge problem at present, but I think posting links to porn and debt free help is pretty lame. The main difference between posting links to non ableton or music related material and the other typical porn and debt free links is, that the latter are mostly being posted in order for the spammer to make money, and they generally don't have a preference for which forums they post on.

Well i guess in the present state, the answer is no. But I've seen forums get cluttered with spam so much that you can't see the good posts for all the spam, that knackers a forum up, and I'm sure you would not like a situation where things become so bad on here would you. Anyway I just can't see the point of these links for porn or debt free links, why not put porn spam on porn forums, and debt free spam links on forums related to debt, that is common sense, at least you might get people that are interested in that case. If everybody just excepted spam as being o.k, then don't you think it would get out of hand?

I am officially nominating myself for the position of official Ableton forums spam deleter-guy.
If chosen, I promise to do everything in my power to respond to the pleas of this community by deleting spambots and posts as fast as they are posted.

I have experience in helping moderate forums. I was affiliated with a production company for a few years, and acted as resident messageboard administrator. During my time there, there was no spam on the board, and all user needs were attended to.

I can be reached by PMing me, or emailing me at lush6(at)gci.net.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to the opportunity to help clean up these wonderful forums.

Sincerely,
the_planet

Hello,

As much as I understand the irritation all spam can cause, I thought we could talk about it in a calm manner?

We do our best to remove any spam thread as soon as possible. It can sometimes take a day or two, but not more. It only means that we are busy or not around.

But please, never click these links as they can contain malicious applets, viruses and whatnot. Also, if you answer spams for fun, via email, be sure your email address will be spammed 100 times more. Answering to a spam thead on the froum does not hurt, but it is a bit like 'pisser dan un violon' (bad french slang expression, go figure), meaning that it does nothign as:

1. bots don't read forum, and there are no dudes or dudettes behind these spams, only bots.
2. the thread will be removed soon.

But if it makes you happy.. Only thing to consider, is that it helps keeping the spam thread on the top of the list. Thus annoying spam reluctant users.

Regards,
Amaury
