That's pretty much where I'm at too. I have yet to even install Reason on my new computer...sort of an experiment to see if I can do without. So far I've been doing without just fine, but at the same time I've been anxiously waiting to see if v.4 would convince me to give it another go.
So far I'm thinking not, but obviously it's too early to judge.....

same shit different smell
ableton embraced midi and is now better off for it
if only the dumbasses as props would embrace audio recording and 3rd party stuff properly, they would see their company not fail and we would see a good idea be great., i mean a great idea be amazin.

Well I don't think there's much chance of their company failing
Reason 3 has been one of the top selling music software titles in history, and I have no doubt Reason 4 will do at least as well
Of course for many of us, the fact that Reason is a closed environment - and that it can be used in
conjunction with an audio recording host rather than a
replacement for one - is among its main attractions.
So I'll have to disagree with your main point sweetjesus. [shrug]

Gee, I wonder where my money is going.
Proof again that the Abs overpriced their add-ons.
99 Euro only and plenty of value unlike my last "donation" for Ableton, since for me it does not deserve to be called upgrade.
I hope lesson learnt and the every year rat race upgrade is no more the policy.
Ableton should learn from props how to generate income without compromising the main software.
Cashing on fan boys who are more then happy they can spend money on most silly and useless Refills. Start making "Live packs" perhaps even employing the "associated" users for that oriented on people who love music, have no much time for it, having other jobs, but ready to pull that plastic out for anything related to the software they love.
I don't think it is rip off, initially thought so about Refills but realised the amateurs dont know and actually dont want to know they buy useless ( useless cause who a hell with an office job will ever have time for that) stuff., Their girlfriends get their Pradas and they buy another reggeton or Abba refill.

nah im happy to hear you out, i guess you use the program, i dont.
i do remember being able to teach a complete DAW/computer music newbie how to bust ideas down in less than 10 minutes, so there is something there.
but music styles and music production techniques have changed over the last few years (thank u ableton) and treating and manipulating audio renditions of your midi sequences in the same environment is becoming expected.
i know props will read this, so in case they do maybe they should add a device which lets u record ala phrase sampler and kinda let people use it for what they want.

Sadly, that's true.

My girlfriend most definitely doesn't get Prada... because then I wouldn't have been able to afford both the reggaeton *and* Abba refill lol

If you're a long time reason user this is cool - if you're not then big deal ah?
personally I'm gonna get it - the groove thing is a god send in Reason
and for the upgrade price - it's much better then the abes 49 trillion dollar upgrade just so you could use a sampler that doesnt...uh yeah
but...I'm sure the two of these cool programs together as usual will r o c k
peace
